Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 247 dropped very recently and it was certainly one of the most exciting ways to start the new year. 2024 is going to be the final year of JJK if the author is to be believed and it surely going to be an exciting journey up to the end of the year. This also means that the very biggest fights of the story are going to be highlighted in this particular year, starting with JJK chapter 247, which aided the conclusion of the Culling Game arc greatly by setting up what could be the final fight in this arc.

In the previous chapter, Higuruma took center stage in the fight against Sukuna and the focus on him continued this week as well as he continued to blossom as an incredible Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Sukuna Praises Higuruma

Towards the end of the previous chapter of JJK, fans could see Higuruma tap into the power of Domain Amplification. This isn’t an easy ability for anyone to learn. Domain amplification is quite hard to master and very few characters have used it in the story. For someone who gained access to cursed technique only 2 months ago, learning domain amplification should have been impossibly difficult, however, Higuruma is such a genius that he actually managed to pull that off nonetheless. In fact, not only did he pull off the usage of domain amplification, he managed to use it in a way where his technique was still useful in combat and he was still protecting himself from Sukuna’s attacks.

In other words, just as Sukuna put it, he was using his cursed energy with the same efficiency as Sukuna himself and that is nothing short of praise of the highest order. When Sukuna saw that in JJK chapter 247, he was convinced that Higuruma was destined for greater things, and that is precisely why he decided to take him on and combat seriously. In fact, Sukuna even disregarded Yuji to the side, calling him a bore and saying that he did not have even a single interesting bone in his entire body. He was fixated on Higuruma and this isn’t a surprise, given that Kenjaku himself felt something similar from this boy.

Sukuna’s Assault On Higuruma

JJK chapter 247 was always going to be Sukuna’s retaliation to Higuruma’s awakening of domain amplification. While domain amplification is a great way to protect oneself, it cannot be enough in a fight against someone as strong as Sukuna. As a result, Higuruma was always going to find himself in trouble and that is precisely what happened. Higuruma managed to launch quite a few powerful strikes towards Sukuna, however, none of those actually connected and that is precisely what led to his downfall in the chapter. Sukuna was able to dodge all his strikes and continuously hit him with attacks of his own, chinking away at his armor bit by bit.

Sukuna then showcased the incredible flexibility he has in combat, thanks to his additional pair of arms and of course, a mouth that can chant incantations to increase the power of his attacks at any time. By doing that, Sukuna launched an incredibly powerful Dismantle that chopped everything in the surroundings and even managed to cut Higuruma as well. The idea here by Sukuna was to force Higuruma to heal himself. Quite clearly, Sukuna was mesmerized by the potential that Higuruma held and was certain that he could reach even higher levels as a sorcerer.

Higuruma’s Reverse Cursed Technique

In JJK chapter 247, Sukuna forced Higuruma to evolve in combat in front of him. By cutting off his limbs one at a time, he forced Higuruma to consider his options. Either he could simply give up and die, or, he could force himself to heal. Sukuna pointed out that he needed reverse cursed technique to heal himself and asked him if he had heard of it. Of course, this was nothing surprising to Higuruma, given that he is fully aware of what it is and has seen it being used in combat on many occasions. Higuruma also lost one of his legs soon after and even though Yuji tried to create a diversion, it wasn’t enough.

Higuruma knew that he was on his own and that is when he decided to put his all into trying to heal once again and he succeeded. As was predicted by us earlier, Higuruma did actually manage to tap into the power of reverse cursed technique and that was nothing short of extraordinary. For someone who learned cursed energy and its applications very recently to develop into such an advanced sorcerer is unheard of and yet, Higuruma was an example standing in front of Sukuna beaming with potential. Higuruma did try to stab Sukuna with the Executioner’s Sword and he did manage to do that as well, however, before the sword made contact with him, he chopped off the part that was going to be stabbed. As a result, his attempt was a failure, despite him awakening such an incredible power.

Higuruma’s Death

As expected, towards the end of JJK chapter 247, Higuruma fell in battle. His attempt to stop Sukuna with the Executioner’s Sword failed, and shortly afterwards, Sukuna hit him with a powerful Dismantle from point-blank range. In the previous chapter, it was made clear that taking such an attack from point-blank range means death for most characters, unless they are Gojo. That is precisely what ended up happening in chapter 247 as Higuruma was struck down. However, before he was struck down, he passed on his Executioner’s Sword to none other than Yuji, who snuck up to Sukuna from behind and attempted to stab him in the back.

Higuruma realizes that he has played his role here already and that the rest is up to Yuji. This is very similar to how Nanami entrusted everything to him in Shibuya and, now, Higuruma has given him the Executioner’s Sword. Whether Yuji will be able to do something with it or not, fans will have to wait to see, however, given that he needs to shine, fans can expect great things from him in the upcoming chapter. As mentioned earlier, this chapter was a big step towards the conclusion of the Culling Game arc as the final fight of the story, which features Yuji and Sukuna, might just have begun now and that is something that fans are very excited to see.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait quite a bit for JJK chapter 248 as the next chapter is not going to be available to read anytime soon. The story is going on a break for now and will resume towards the end of January, which is when JJK fans will finally get to see their favorites back on screen once again.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 248, is set to be January 21, 2024.
