In any form of medium, whether it is in books, movies, anime or manga, introducing a new character is a big deal. Fans want to be excited and intrigued by the arrival of someone new, so making sure someone’s introduction is worthy of their character’s power is vital in a manga/anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen, where someone’s strength and cursed energy are extremely important.
Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen will know that many new characters are introduced in each episode and that their introductions usually give an indication of each character’s cursed techniques and their general personality. Some introductions are lowkey and seamless, whereas others are a big deal. Likewise, some introductions are good and some are not so good.
6 Nanami Kento
Keeps It Real About Work And Sorcerers
A more lighthearted introduction is no doubt Nanami Kento’s, where he is introduced by Gojo to Yuji. His introduction seems rather straightforward until he declares that “Jujutsu Sorcerers are sh*t,” followed by the same word being used to describe his day-to-day work. Compared to others, it is clear that Nanami Kento isn’t the biggest fan of being involved in the world of Jujutsu sorcery.
His introduction is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s fan-favorite scenes, mainly for its relatable anti-establishment tones that are funny as well as being true and agreeable to many. The contrast of his smart aura to this humorous moment also adds to his introduction, with this scene instantly creating many fans of Nanami Kento.
5 Todo Aoi
“What Type Of Women Do You Like?”
A man who is adamant about his obsession with his favorite idol, Tadaka-kun, and his “little brother” Yuji Itadori, Todo’s introduction to the storyline sums him up as a character. His very first line is “What type of women do you like?” which is supposedly what he asks everyone when meeting them for the first time.
When Megumi Fushiguro disappoints him by not saying a tall woman with a big butt, he begins a rather brutal offense, beating up Megumi with little mercy. We see that he is a very powerful sorcerer whilst also being quite funny, as not many people would introduce themselves by asking someone about their taste in women. Thus, Todo’s introduction is one of the best, as it has a good amount of brutality mixed with a sprinkle of humor, making him instantly interesting.
4 Jogo
Brutality In The Restaurant
A villain in any anime usually has a brutal entrance that instantly sets the tone for how evil this character can be. This is the case for Jogo, who is often underrated in terms of strength and ruthlessness. His first scene sees Jogo in a restaurant, where at first viewers don’t expect anything too special to happen. However, Jogo decides to set every person there on fire after getting excited by Geto/Kenjaku’s plans, killing a whole restaurant in seconds.
This introduction is one of the most brutal scenes in terms of human killings by sorcerers; at least, before the Shibuya incident. The fear is very prominent in the people who die in the restaurant, which makes this scene quite chilling and really shows off the lack of regard for human life from curses like Jogo.
3 Toji Fushiguro (Reappearance)
Return Of The Cursed Energy-Less Hitman
Arguably one of the most hyped moments in Jujutsu Kaisen so far is Toji’s reappearance during the Shibuya Incident episode where Toji, by using his extreme physical prowess, overthrows the curse user who can transform himself into dead people. He then brutally kills the old lady, Granny Ogami, who used her Seance Technique to bring Toji’s body back in the first place, with Toji’s body now operating in a zombie-like state, fueled purely by Toji’s instincts and with his only goal being to murder the strongest person in his vicinity.
What follows truly makes his reappearance phenomenal, with his entrance into Dagon’s domain shocking all the current sorcerers who were there fighting Dagon. His dispatching of Dagon is spectacular and really shows off just how strong Toji is. The clash of old and new, with Toji fighting next to the young sorcerers, makes this whole scene extra special.
2 Gojo Satoru
The Strongest
The first appearance of the series’ strongest sorcerer was fitting. Gojo Satoru appears after Yuji Itadori accidentally consumes one of Sukuna’s fingers, which allows Sukuna to take over his body for a moment. Sukuna, now controlling Itadori’s body as a vessel, takes on Megumi Fushiguro, who, interestingly, is spotted preparing a ritual to summon Mahoraga just before Gojo appears.
Gojo proceeds to clown on Megumi, who is rattled by his brief encounter with Sukuna, which shows the viewer his trademark humor instantly. He then easily evades Sukuna’s attacks to the point of humiliation, until finally, Itadori takes back control of his body. This intro scene for Gojo captures everything about him in a badass fight scene that made fans highly intrigued by the mysterious masked man.
1 Mahoraga
“With This Treasure I Summon”
Megumi finally completes a ritual to summon Mahoraga amidst the Shibuya Incident, in which Megumi finds himself injured and heavily exhausted by the events of that evening. Mahoraga is seen as the last option for Megumi, so viewers can assume that Megumi felt that his life was very much on the line as an result of Haruta Shigemo’s attacks.
The whole ritual combined with Mahoraga breaking out of his shell, instantly bashing the very person who summoned him into the side of a building with extreme force, makes Mahoraga’s introduction more than threatening. The animation for the ritual is fantastic, with the wolves howling in the background and the dramatic snapping of strings from Mahoraga.
