The Amazon Prime animated show Invincible has become a big hit on Prime Video due to its superhero premise and unique narrative, adapted from the comic of the same name created by Robert Kirkman, John Rauch, and Ryan Ottley. Invincible centers around Mark Grayson, otherwise known by his superhero moniker Invincible. Mark develops his superhero powers under the tutelage of his father, Omni-Man, who secretly aims to conquer Earth for his race, the Viltrumites.

Mark generates plenty of friends throughout the show, with his newfound powers becoming instrumental in him meeting other superheroes. Mark also develops more friends at his high school, leading to him managing both his superhero and school life simultaneously, eventually causing strife due to his amass of new friends.


7 Rex Splode

In the show Invincible, Rex is one of the Guardians of the Globe members, formally being a part of the Teen Team alongside Atom Eve and Robot. Rex initially acts hostile towards Mark when he meets the Teen Team, although after seeing Mark’s display in battle, Rex comes to respect Mark and his superpowers. When Rex is getting pulverized by Monster Girl in the Guardians of the Globe tryouts, Mark comes to Rex’s rescue to stop a humiliation from occurring.

Later, Mark falls to Machine Head and his henchmen, which prompts the new Guardians of the Globe to arrive and help, including Rex, as he seeks to return the favor to Mark.

6 Robot/Rudy

Robot is one of the current Guardians of the Globe members, formerly the leader of its newer iteration. Robot and Mark become friends when Mark helps what is known as the Teen Team. Mark assists Robot in picking the new Guardians of the Globes team, with Robot acknowledging Mark’s potential as he suggests that Mark should join, which results in a decline.

Once Robot eventually transforms into a new human body called Rudy, he and the other Guardians of the Globe members watch and hope for Mark’s safety when he faces off with Omni-Man.

As the head of the Global Defense Agency, Cecil interacts with superheroes such as the Guardians of the Globe and Omni-Man. When Omni-Man kills the Guardians of the Globe, the stereotypical superhero character Cecil becomes suspicious of Mark’s father. Along with Cecil’s suspicions came Mark, who began interacting with Cecil as they started to work together after the Guardians of the Globe’s demise. Cecil sends Mark on several missions to see his abilities in action, as he sees Mark as a potential solution to the superhero crisis.

Once Omni-Man leaves Earth, Cecil tries to mentor Mark to guide him to be one of Earth’s greatest defenders.

4 Allen The Alien

Having an alien character has become a standard implementation in many animated shows. In Invincible, Allen the Alien is Mark’s first intergalactic friend, as the pair bond over their hatred of the Villtrumites. Allen the Alien enters Invincible as a potential threat to Earth, although, after Allen and Mark’s first initial scuffle, the pair both realize there is no need for hostility. Allen and Mark soon begin chatting about their respective planets and their daily lives, with the theme heavily focusing on the Villtrumites.

Allen’s care for Mark shows when Allen turns up to state that a Viltrumite has infiltrated Earth and plans to conquer the planet, with Mark declaring his family secret to Allen. Allen’s view of Mark increases as he views him as an essential cog in the fight against Viltrumites.

3 Atom Eve

Mark’s Closest Superhero Friend

Atom Eve, played by Gillian Jacobs, becomes Mark’s first superhero friend when they fight against the Flaxans. Not only does Eve work beside Mark in superhero battles, but they both attend the same high school. The pair relates to each other due to the double lives they both try to manage. Eve and Mark grow closer as they rely on each other for advice about how to deal with their personal lives, with Eve even becoming friends with Mark’s girlfriend, Amber, and his friend Will.

Eve and Mark’s influence on each other’s lives grows stronger as they spend more time together, whether saving the world or hanging out with Amber and Will.

2 Amber

Mark’s Girlfriend

Amber is not only one of Mark’s best friends but also Mark’s girlfriend. Throughout season 1, Amber and Mark develop their relationship into a romance that often deals with hardships due to Mark’s secret superhero life. Throughout all the chaos that causes Mark to miss commitments, Amber stands by Mark after Omni-Man savagely attacks him.

In season 2, Amber and Mark’s relationship goes from strength to strength, with Mark finally admitting his second life to Amber. The pair eventually go off to the same college with Will as they take their relationship to the next level while Mark still tries to maintain order on Earth.

Mark’s Best Friend

William Clockwell, or Will, is Mark’s best friend in Invincible. Will and Mark are friends from high school who seek each other’s advice on specific topics or issues each character has to deal with. Will is flamboyant, with his attitude on matters always being somewhat eccentric. Mark’s commitment to his friendship with Will is strengthened when Will brings Mark and Amber to college to meet Will’s love interest, Rick.

Will becomes only one of a few people who know about Mark being Invincible, showing Mark’s trust in his friend, as he sees the group of Amber, Eve, and Will as part of his family. Once Mark is set for college, he is joined by both Will and Amber as they continue to develop their already strong friendship as they start to grow into adulthood.
