Although not necessarily about Christmas, it has become a staple in every household to watch the golden trio’s attempt at defeating the Dark Lord when the weather gets chilly.

It is a fact that no one can deny for sure, especially since the series never fails to include Christmas scenes in every movie, except in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, as the movie focuses on the battle of Hogwarts and wrapping the entire series instead.

Slughorn’s Christmas party shows how the potion master and professor always have favorites that he recruits from his Slug Club. The Club itself only consists of students he deems worthy and brilliant. Names such as Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, and Tom Riddle when he was still a student are a few of its members.
Not necessarily a fan favorite, yet still taking an interesting turn of events, Slughorn’s Christmas party marks the peak of Harry-Ginny and Ron-Hermione’s complicated relationship that began in turbulence. The party also finalizes Harry’s suspicion of Draco and Snape’s future involvement in Dumbledore’s death.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Last Christmas before the Second Wizarding War, the Christmas in Godric’s Hollow was a bittersweet moment for Harry. On his and Hermione’s journey to learn more information about the Deathly Hallows from Bathilda Bagshot, they stand by Lily and James Potter’s graves, paying respect to two heroic figures that he misses dearly.
This poignant moment also motivates Harry to gather his courage to defeat the Dark Lord, continuing what his parents had done when they were still alive. Unfortunately for them, the touching moment was cut short after Nagini, in the disguise of Bathilda Bagshot, soon attacked them in her house.

The day began as a gloomy day for the Chosen One, as he could not join his friends in the Hogsmeade Village, since he could not have his permit signed by his evil uncle. Fortunately for him, Fred and George saw him under his invisibility cloak and gave him The Marauders Map which would soon be one of the most important items he ever had.
The magical map works similarly to a digital location sharer. However, it is more powerful as it can show everyone’s location, including Peter Pettigrew, the true villain who betrayed his parents. Harry, who has been stressing about a suspected murderer, Sirius Black, on the loose to seek his revenge on him, turns out to be an innocent man who loves him like his own child. A great Christmas present indeed.
4 Christmas and The Order of Phoenix

Christmas in the Grimmauld Place is one of the most heartwarming ones there is. It is particularly special as Arthur Weasley, who was recently attacked by Nagini, can celebrate another Christmas with his loved ones, including Harry Potter, who saved his life. It is also special as Harry spends the holiday season with his Godfather, Sirius Black, like a real family for the first time.
Not only that, Hermione also joins the celebration, and the golden trio is finally having peaceful moments in a trying and difficult time. Not to forget that Harry and Ron got their lovely winter attires from Molly Weasley, a tradition that started in their first year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, it is Harry’s last Christmas with Sirius Black.
3 Christmas As Crabbe And Goyle

One of the very few first Christmases where no one dies yet, the golden trio spends their holiday taking Polyjuice Potions to turn into 2 Slytherin boys, Crabbe and Goyle, to dig for information about the heir of Slytherin from Draco Malfoy. This Christmas is a funny and light-hearted one, although the danger they face is getting closer and closer as the monsters of the Chamber of Secrets start to take their victims one by one.
Not only that, Harry was in deep stress as he needed to find the true heir of Slytherin to clear his name as his ability to speak Parseltongue had drawn suspicions from people around him. Although the transformation did not end in a fruitful tone, this Christmas was a fun one for the protagonists of the series.
2 Christmas And The Yule Ball

One thing about the Harry Potter franchise is that the Christmas scenes are never boring in every movie. The Yule Ball, in particular, is the turning point of the Golden Trio’s transition into adolescence. They dress up, dance with their dates, and have their first problem as real teenagers; one complicated thing called love.
In the Yule Ball, it is also the first time that the fans can see Hermione’s transformation from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan, one of the most prominent developments of the beloved ever-studious girl. Not only that, but the fandom also starts their suspicions about Ron-Hermione’s future romantic plot, as well as Harry’s infatuation with Cho Chang.

This is the Christmas that made Harry Potter a popular movie choice for the holiday season. Although there are some bittersweet moments where Harry’s heart is heavy from looking at his reflection in the mirror of Erised, this Christmas marks his beginning in the years to come, defeating the Dark Lord with his two best friends.
