Golf Manga By Seven Deadly Sins Author Gets Anime

Netflix released an official teaser trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of The Seven Deadly Sins author Nakaba Suzuki’s 1998 golf manga, Rising Impact. The adaptation of Suzuki’s first-ever manga serialization adds to Netflix’s ever-increasing and impressive catalog of anime originals of several works from various mediums, including Monster author Naoki Urasawa’s Pluto manga. In addition to the teaser trailer, a brand-new key visual featuring series protagonist Gawain Nanaumi was also revealed.

Set for premiere on the streaming service in 2024, the teaser trailer for Rising Impact revealed that the anime will run for two seasons in Summer 2024. The first will premiere in June 2024, while the second is slated for release in August 2024.

Nakaba Suzuki’s Rising Impact was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, running for 17 volumes from November 1998 to February 2002. The series follows the journey of third-grader Gawain Nanaumi in the sport of golf. The upcoming anime boasts a star-studded cast and staff roles as various veterans have been announced.

Cast members announced include Misaki Kuno (Hawk, The Seven Deadly Sins) as Gawain Nanaumi; Yumiri Hanamori (Ai Hayasaka, Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Lancelot Norman; Yō Taichi (Akane Sawatari, CHAINSAW MAN) as Kiria Nishino; Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) as Kurumi Nishino; Kaede Hondo (Ix Elizabetta, Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun) as Yumiko Koizumi; Yūto Uemura (Atsushi Nakajima, Bungo Stray Dogs) as Liebel Ringvald; Yumi Uchiyama (Rudeus Greyrat, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Platalissa Bonaire; Eiji Takamoto (Kozo Kanamori, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Wanglian Li; Shunsuke Takeuchi (Askin Nakk Le Vaar, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War) as Riser Hopkins and Katsuyuki Konishi (Dreyfus, The Seven Deadly Sins) as Kai Todoin.

Rising Impact is being produced by staff at studio Lay-Duce (Tomo-chan Is a Girl!; Magi: Adventure of Sinbad). Golden Kamuy director Hitoshi Nanba will serve as director on the series, while Michiro Tsuchiya will be the scriptwriter, and Studio Durian’s Kiyotaka Oshiyama, who worked on CHAINSAW MAN, and Space Dandy, serves as the character designer. Masaru Yokoyama, composer of soundtracks to anime series like Arakawa Under the Bridge; Classroom of the Elite; Chihayafuru and Fruits Basket, will provide the music. The Rising Impact anime is set to run for two seasons in June and August 2024; however, no confirmation on the number of episodes has been made as yet.
