With both Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia gaining popularity in recent years, Gojo and All Might, two characters who serve central roles in their respective series, have become widely known.

In his prime and many years after, All Might served as the number one hero. He left many other heroes in the dust, as he was greatly revered and admired by the public. By defeating evil villains and saving people with a smile, All Might eventually became known as the Symbol of Peace. If he was there, then everything was fine, and few villains would even dare to act up. However, after his fall from grace, everything changed.

Similar to All Might, Satoru Gojo is legendary when it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen. He is undoubtedly the strongest human sorcerer of the modern age, and few can hope to match him. Immediately after he was born, the balance between jujutsu sorcerers, curses, and curse users tilted in favor of jujutsu sorcerers. Evil reclined, as in the face of Gojo, all manner of tricks were rendered useless. However, even the strongest can be defeated.

The Burden Of Being The Strongest

Being the absolute strongest in any society comes with some perks. However, Gojo and All Might have proved that it puts a target on one’s back bigger than any other. In Gojo’s case, as the strongest sorcerer in the modern world, many evildoers hate him. Although they were powerless to do anything against him for the most part, they had years upon years to plan on how to exploit his weaknesses by examining the inner workings of his cursed technique. Moreover, although he gives jujutsu sorcerers an immense advantage, he is only one man. And if anything should happen to him, the balance of good and evil would crash. And so, he must always retain his title of being the strongest.

For All Might, he unfortunately quickly lost his title of being the number one hero and the Symbol of Peace. While being the Symbol of Peace certainly did good for society, it also meant that should the symbol ever be lost, then chaos would reign. After his first great clash with All For One, All Might was left greatly injured; however, that couldn’t be made public knowledge as it would affect society. However, it seems keeping his grave injury from the public only seemed to delay the inevitable, as he was forced into retirement after another great battle against All For One.

What Tragic Fate Awaits These Characters?

Despite being the strongest, Gojo Satoru has been sealed in the Shibuya arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series, so he is unable to do anything about the cursed spirits and curse users that have been released. Moreover, as manga readers know, Gojo Satoru is presumed dead in the manga. He was allegedly killed by Sukuna, leaving the world in a state of confusion.

As fans of Jujutsu Kaisen mourn amidst the shock of how the strongest sorcerer is presumed dead, fans of My Hero Academia do not have it any better. Although All Might passed on his quirk to Izuku Midoriya and can be called a cripple, in the final battle against Tomura Shigaraki and All For One, he came back with a suit of armor that had properties of Class 1A’s quirk built into it. Unfortunately, although he manages to put up a decent fight against All For One, unlike people and actual quirks, tools cannot surpass their limits. And All For One has him by the throat, signaling the end of an era.

Who Carries The Torch Next?

While neither All Might nor Gojo Satoru have been confirmed to be dead with no chance of returning to life, it is safe to say that, at the very least, they are on their last legs. For either or both of the Jujutsu Kaisen and the My Hero Academia worlds to survive the imminent collapse of society, new and capable heroes and sorcerers must rise up. Thankfully, Gojo and All Might have served as mentors and have contributed immensely to the growth of the next generation. The next generation of heroes has already begun to surpass All Might, with Izuku Midoriya and the students of Class 1A leading the charge. For Jujutsu Kaisen, Itadori, and Yuta will certainly rise up to face Sukuna regardless of the odds, if Gojo is truly dead. With new heroes and sorcerers arising, the My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen worlds still have hope for a better future, but even then, the end of Gojo’s and All Might’s eras will be a huge blow.

My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen are available to read on Viz Media.
