Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo has expressed concern that the cast of the Netflix sci-fi series is proliferating, emphasizing the need to wrap up production sooner rather than later.
Stranger Things has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix and garnered universal acclaim for its storytelling and stunning visuals. Although there has been a gap of 1.5 years for every season to come out on Netflix, fans had to wait for more than two years for Season 4 to arrive on the streaming platform. Recent reports have suggested that the fifth and final season of the sci-fi epic series might take a little longer to release. However, Matarazzo recently spoke about the final edition of the series and didn’t shy away from saying that he wants the series to be out as soon as possible. However, he made it clear why the makers are not rushing to put the final season out.
In an interview with TMZ, Matarazzo opened up about the production of Stranger Things Season 5 and noted how he feels the show needs to finish filming soon as the younger cast members are visibly maturing. He also explained the reasons behind the lengthy production process for the final season and why the makers are taking a lot of time to come forward with the final edition. He said, “That’s the hope, yeah. Well, we do want to get it out as quickly as we can, you know what I mean? It’s just a big season. So, it’s taken a bit to shoot, and there are a little bit of delays to the pandemic, and both of the strikes, but we’re going full force right now, which is pretty great.” During the conversation, the actor also revealed that he hasn’t read all the scripts for the final edition, claiming that there is a lot of secrecy revolving around the final scripts.
His comments come a few days after Ross Duffer announced that the production of Season 5 has reached the halfway mark. Taking it to Instagram, the co-creator of the Netflix series shared a photo with the entire cast and crew of the show, expressing gratitude toward every person who has worked hard to make the show so successful. However, it also made fans upset because they would have to wait longer to see the final set of episodes. Matarazzo’s comments also make it clear that even though the cast loves the series and opened several doors for them, they want to move on and take their careers into exciting new directions. On the other hand, the massive success of Season 4 of Stranger Things has made the streaming platform and makers cautious about the final edition. As a result, they wouldn’t want to come out with the final edition in a rush and give fans an underwhelming finale.
Although plot details are still under wraps, recent reports and behind-the-scenes photos hint that major characters could meet their demise in the showdown against Vecna. Meanwhile, fans can expect further development and closure for beloved characters, with emotional and impactful arcs. Several stars of the show have already boasted about how the final season will blow everyone’s minds and leave them speechless. It is yet to be seen how the makers take the story forward and give fans a finale that they are longing for.
All four seasons of Stranger Things are streaming exclusively on Netflix.
