Flowers of Worship: Chapter 42 Recap

In the previous chapter of Flowers of Worship, we see Cecylia make some questionable decisions as she orders her troops to basically do what is considered to be abandonment, and it is quite the grievous offence for the soldiers who are supposed to protect the throne.

Cecylia is setting herself up as the villain in front of Ethan for some reason and she also realizes that she loves Ethan, although even her conclusion is somewhat calculated. However, Cecylia tells Ethan that she never told him that she loved him and he is just assuming how she felt based on what he wants.

Cecylia asks Chris to hand Ethan a sword so they can fight and she asks Ethan to raise his sword, since she can’t go ahead and stab someone who is not in their right mind. Ethan is shattered as he hears her talk and we see some of Ethan’s internal monologue.

Ethan wanted to save Cecylia as she had saved him in the past when he was on the verge of death. Ethan wanted to help Cecylia gain her freedom regardless of what she had wanted or said. Cecylia was not Ethan’s wife but she was his loyal Knight, someone who was warm, kind and loving.

He realized that she only helped him since he was a foolish child and she was the throne’s loyal Knight. Ethan finally snaps and he asks why Cecylia bothered saving him if that was her conclusion, and if she found it fun to watch him fall in love with her.

Ethan raises his sword and both begin to battle fiercely, with their sword aura clashing and exploding against each other. Ethan and Cecylia are on par with each other and as Cecylia runs into his blade, Ethan is not able to stop her. Cecylia dies in Ethan’s arms who loses his mind from the guilt, deciding to end himself.
