- Vegito remains one of the most powerful characters in the franchise, surpassing mortal strength and God of Destruction levels.
Fusion is one of the most beloved additions that Dragon Ball has ever introduced. This state is achieved when two mighty warriors merge into a single person who not only has the power of both of their constituents, but also has an extra boost of strength on top of that, making them some of the most powerful characters in the series. One way to fuse in Dragon Ball is through the use of the Potara Earrings.
After each participant puts on an earring on opposite ears, both warriors are rapidly flown toward one another where they eventually make contact. Upon contact, a flash of Ki makes the participants merge, forming a powerful fusion. The most famous Potara Fusion of them all is the legendary Vegito, a Saiyan strong enough to transform into the ascended Super Saiyan God form; the Super Saiyan Blue!

Goku Black Arc |
After the events of the Vs. Universe 6 arc, there wasn’t much for the heroes to do other than train. However, Future Trunks suddenly appears out of nowhere and attacks Goku, eventually explaining to the heroes that after the threat of the Androids was dealt with, he had become the singular protector of his timeline. However, a new villain bearing the face of Goku himself destroyed everything, leading to Trunks traveling to the current timeline to ask for the Z-Fighter’s help in putting down this threat.
As Goku and Vegeta made their way to Trunks’ timeline, they were eventually confronted by Goku Black and Zamasu, who proved to be superior to them in their first meeting. After getting some reprieve, the heroes trained even harder and, upon crossing paths with them once more, proceeded to beat them. However, the villains had a trick up their sleeve since they used the Potara Earrings to fuse into Merged Zamasu.
My form is justice. My form is the world. Worship me. Give praise unto me. Me, the beautiful, the sublime.
Due to the overwhelming strength of this evil fusion, Goku and Vegeta decide to undergo a fusion of their own. Knowing that they needed to get stronger, the Saiyans put on the Potara earrings and merged into Vegito, who made his return to the franchise almost 2 decades after his debut! Seeing how God Ki was needed to defeat his adversary, Vegito called upon the latent potential of the Saiyans and unlocked Super Saiyan Blue!
With the power up given to him by God Ki, Vegito proved to be more than a match for Merged Zamasu, stopping his incredibly powerful attacks with just a single hand. In their fight, Vegito constantly kept the deity on his toes with his incredible strength and blinding speed. Though the fight was more equal than Vegito’s showing against Buu, the fusion was still far superior in terms of strength and would have killed the villain had the timer not run out before it should have!
Vegito’s Personality
Vegito’s personality has largely remained the same as it was in his fight against Buu. Since the character exists on an entirely different level of strength than just about everyone else, he is extremely cocky and sure of himself, knowing that no one else can beat him. However, perhaps due to how dire the situation was, Vegito seemed to be a bit more serious in his battle against Merged Zamasu.
Despite this, he was always sure of his abilities and continued his classic trash talk during the battle, goading his opponent and insulting his ideals. Despite being the perfect fusion of Goku and Vegeta, the latter’s cocky and prideful demeanor and fighting style seems to shine more in Vegito, mocking his opponents to let them know how much weaker they are than him.
The Strength of Vegito Blue
One of the strongest Dragon Ball characters
Though he has only been shown once in the series, Vegito Blue is easily one of the most powerful characters in the franchise, even to this day. This is because at the start of his brief battle against Zamasu, he was shown to have fought him on a fairly equal playing field, but due to his insane growth and potential, Zamasu was struggling to keep up with him toward the end of the fight, something Vegito even noted.
I thought your body was supposed to be the ultimate symbol and the weapon of your righteous rage, but it can’t even keep up with me, can it?
Even with all the incredible power-ups that the characters have had in the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga since their interaction with Zamasu, Vegito is still among the most powerful characters in the entire series. In the current story, if Goku and Vegeta were to fuse into him, the resulting fusion would easily be the closest a mortal has ever come to achieving the strength of a God of Destruction!
Notable Techniques
- Final Kamehameha: A combination of Goku and Vegeta’s signature attacks, this move is one of the strongest in all of Dragon Ball.
- Spirit Sword: Vegito’s signature move. He forms a long sword made of Ki from his hand to pierce and slash his opponents. It is one of the strongest moves in the franchise.
- Instant Transmission: Goku’s most useful technique allows Vegito to teleport to anywhere he chooses. This can be a few meters or even across many lightyears.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
