In a bid to emerge victorious, the demon slayers will unleash their full potential even in the face of overwhelming odds because the battle is a defining moment that will determine the fate of humanity.
Zenitsu Agatsuma Vs. Kaigaku
A Clash Of Personal Vendetta
Zenitsu will fight against Kaigagu in the Infinity Castle arc, and the face-off is personal due to the connection they shared in the past. Zenitsu trained under the Thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima, with Kaigaku before he became a demon. Kaigaku has always loved to be revered and worshipped, hence his desire to obtain a higher power and become a demon. The battle is personal for Zenitsu because Kaigaku betrayed their master, and this battle shows how far Zenitsu has come in terms of growth and determination. The two fighters use thunder breathing against one another, but one will definitely surpass the other. Also, throughout the fight, Zenitsu taunts Kaigaku in ways that cause him to overreact and be distracted. The fight delves into themes of betrayal and redemption as Zenitsu is forced to confront a remnant of his past and honor his master’s teaching.
Shinobu Kocho Vs. Doma
A Battle Of Wit
The Insect Hashira, Shinobu faces Doma, an Upper Rank Two demon responsible for the death of her sister, Kanae, and many others. This battle is personal and driven by the thirst for vengeance. Shinobu’s unique fighting style, which also relies on poison and agility rather than brute strength, contrasts sharply with Doma’s power and regenerative abilities. Doma is arrogant and manipulative, which makes his downfall more satisfying in the end. However, his demonic power makes him hard to defeat, which makes Shinobu sacrifice herself for the greater good. Shinobu’s ultimate sacrifice and the later involvement of Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira add layers of tragedy to the intense matchup.
Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira Vs. Doma
Carrying On The Torch Of Responsibility
After Shinobu’s sacrifice, Kanao and Inosuke take up the mantle to defeat Doma. This continuation of the battle against Upper-Rank Two is fueled by their desire to avenge their mentor and protect the world. Kanao’s flower breathing technique and Inosuke’s raw strength and unpredictability create an engaging fight. The emotional weight of Shinobu’s death and the determination of her successors add depth to the confrontation. The teamwork between Kanao and Inosuke highlights their growth due to the burden on their shoulders to make Shinobu’s sacrifice not go to waste.
Muichiro Tokito, Genya Shinazugawa, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima vs. Kokushibo
The Epic Showdown
While the Infinity Castle arc featured the most epic battles in the Demon Slayer series, the showdown against the Upper-Rank One, Kokushibo, is the most thrilling and epic. This fight involves multiple characters, including Muichiro, the Mist Hashira; Genya, the Wind Hashira; Sanemi; Gyomei, the Stone Hashira. The matchup was four against one, but with the immense power, coupled with the abilities of Kokushibo as a former demon slayer, the fight will be a fair one. Also, during the battle, Kokushibo’s past is delved into. Kokushiba was once a human and a demon slayer, but his greed for more power and immortality led him astray, and he chose the path of ‘demonhood’ with Muzan, his maker. Kokushibo represents the pinnacle of demon power as an Upper-Rank One and swordsmanship. The battle against him is a test of skill, endurance, and willpower. Each demon slayer brings unique abilities and personal stakes to the fight, resulting in a multifaceted and intense confrontation to take down the most powerful demon after Muzan.
Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka vs. Akaza
A Long Awaited Rematch and Tanjiro and Giyu’s Dynamic Duo
One of the most anticipated battles in the Infinity Castle arc is the rematch between Tanjiro Kamado and Akaza. In the Mugen Train arc, Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Flame Hashira, Rengoku faced some demons, and one of them was Akaza, a Upper Rank three demon. Akaza, known for his incredible strength and martial arts skills, previously defeated Kyojuro Rengoku, which left a gaping hole in Tanjiro. Therefore, for Tanjiro, the battle is a test of strength and a quest for justice and revenge. Tanjiro’s growth in strength and technique, especially his mastery of the Hinokami Kagura, combined with Giyu’s Water Breathing techniques, makes this battle thrilling. Also, Akaza’s past is delved into during the battle, adding depth to his motivation and shortcomings in the series.
Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro vs. Nakime
A Fight Against The Castle Architect
Nakime, unlike other demons, has the unique ability to control the Infinity Castle’s structure. She manipulates rooms, doors, and hallways, creating a nightmarish labyrinth for the demon slayers to navigate. Nakime was promoted to Upper-Rank Four after Hantengu’s defeat in Swordsmith Village. She also possesses incredible hearing, allowing her to anticipate their movements and launch surprise attacks. The Love Hashira and the Serpent Hashira relied on their agility, coordination, and trust in each other. This matchup not only shows these two demon slayers’ combat skills but also delves into their bond, providing an action-filled and emotionally nuanced fight. In other words, Nakime’s ability to control the castle’s layout makes the fight a strategic battle of wits and reflexes.
Demon Slayer vs Muzan Kibutsuji
The Final Stand
The Infinity Castle battle takes a heavy toll on the Demon Slayer Corps. Many skilled swordsmen died in the Infinity Castle, leaving a significantly weakened force to face Muzan in the end. Despite their losses, the remaining demon slayers remain resolute in their mission to destroy Muzan and avenge their fallen comrades. Due to Muzan’s overwhelming power and regenerative abilities, it becomes harder for the demon slayers to defeat him. In this vein, the demon slayers all employed a constant and continuous barrage of attacks against Muzan to limit his regeneration and extend the battle till sunrise. Muzan’s weakness lies in his vulnerability to sunlight, hence the plan to hold Muzan at bay for an extended period, pushing the demon slayers to their physical and mental limits. The final battle showcases the importance of teamwork amongst the remaining demon slayers because even in the face of overwhelming odds, they stood together to give one last fight to protect humanity.
Demon Slayer vs Tanjiro Kamado
Muzan’s Last Approach And Tanjiro’s Struggle
After the intense battle in the Infinity Castle, Muzan finds himself on the brink of defeat and resorts to a shocking move. As the sun emerges, the demon slayers’ continuous assault finally yields results, and the ray of sunlight begins to destroy Muzan. In a final act of desperation and survival, Muzan injects his blood into Tanjiro, attempting to transfer his consciousness and demonic essence into Tanjiro’s body. Naturally, this is a great emotional turmoil for the demon slayers because they will have to fight a former comrade. Their attacks must be powerful enough to subdue the demonized Tanjiro yet restrained enough to avoid inflicting permanent harm on their friend. However, Tanjiro retains fragments of his humanity and fights mentally to restrain Muzan from taking control of his body. This internal struggle became an emotional turning point for both Tanjiro and the demon slayers. While Tanjiro fights to regain control, his sister, Nezuko, emerges as a pivotal figure during the internal struggle, giving Tanjiro the strength to fight back.
