X-Men actor Dafne Keen reignited Deadpool 3 cameo rumors by uploading a set photo from Hugh Jackman’s Logan.
Released in 2017, Logan marked Jackman’s retirement as Logan, aka Wolverine. It also served as a conclusion to Charles Xavier’s story. However, both actors returned to these iconic roles, with Stewart appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Jackman set to appear in the upcoming film, Deadpool and Wolverine. But recent speculation suggests that another actor from the cast of Logan might make their way into the MCU.
Recently, Keen uploaded a picture of herself from the set of Logan. In the picture, Keen shares the frame with Jackman and the director, James Mangold. Although the picture can be just a little throwback to the fun times she had while shooting the film, it has stimulated speculations that Keen might return as X-23 in Deadpool 3. Rumors of X-23’s return were reported months ago, but Marvel Studios has not confirmed these reports.
Keen’s version of Laura, aka X-23, debuted in Logan as Wolverine’s biological daughter (she was created with Logan’s DNA), and fans hoped to see her return for future projects. However, her story couldn’t move forward because Disney acquired Fox. As a result, Marvel Studios decided to revamp the entire franchise and introduce mutants in their way. Even though fans haven’t seen an MCU movie solely based on mutants, Deadpool 3 could be a perfect way to bring mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, the production giant gave viewers a glimpse at mutants by introducing Beast in The Marvels‘ post-credits scene. On the other hand, She-Hulk had already hinted at Wolverine being a part of the MCU with a news headline saying, “Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl.” So, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Keen’s X-23 to appear in Deadpool 3 and take Laura’s story forward.
Deadpool and Wolverine is the only Marvel Studios’ 2024 movie release. Phase 5 hasn’t been so good for the MCU, with movies like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels underperforming at the box office. So, a lot of hope rides on Deadpool 3, and with Jackman’s involvement in the movie, fans expect the film to be a massive success. The Deadpool 3 trailer received praise from the fans, but the film’s real test will occur when it opens in theaters.
Deadpool and Wolverine is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
