Chapter 136 of Tatsuki Fujimoto's iconic Chainsaw Man manga ended with a strange girl making moves on the protagonist Denji at a cinema. The most recent installment -- Chapter 137, "Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura" -- showed the aftermath of this, as she asked Denji to go and lick a deceased devil in front of them, promising to take his virginity if he did. He scolded her in response, claiming that he won't fall for honey traps anymore. At least, that's what he thought, but the panel revealed he was already doing her bidding by licking the tendril of the squid Devil.

The girl and Denji then took to a karaoke room, with Denji's date promising they could be intimate without being disturbed. Before starting, the girl grabbed a microphone and began singing a vulgar song, which Denji enjoyed. However, a collection of men with baseball bats stormed the date and began battling against Denji. After he managed to fight them all off, the girl grabbed a bat of her own and prepared to fight, revealing that the whole thing was a ploy.

The Chainsaw Man series is one of the most popular properties in all of animanga. It has become incredibly influential alongside two other series as part of the "Dark Shonen Trio." The other properties are Jujutsu Kaisen and Hell's Paradise, both of which have, like Chainsaw Man, received critically acclaimed anime adaptations from Studio MAPPA.

The franchise's popularity has even reached outside the manga industry, as an upcoming clothing line collaboration between Chainsaw Man and Uniqlo has promised to bring more attention to Fujimoto's work.

Chainsaw Man's next chapter will be available on August 8 via Viz Media, Shōnen Jump, and the Manga Plus app. Additionally, the Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and Hell's Paradise anime can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
