One of those villains is Carl Rogers, who, despite being killed by the Russians in season 1, is still causing trouble from the grave via an FBI investigation into Bosch and Chandler in connection with his murder, led by Agent William Baron, who is played by former Brat pack star, Anthony Michael Hall in season 2.
Bosch: Legacy has been renewed for season 3, and is currently in production. The spin-off series has been a huge success for Amazon Freevee since it debuted on the ad-based streaming service in 2022. Bosch: Legacy Season 2 set up a number of different plot threads that will run into the upcoming season, and Agent Baron could be playing a major part in proceedings after vowing he wasn’t done with the FBI investigation despite the case being thrown out in court.

Who is Agent William Baron in Bosch: Legacy?
William Baron is an FBI agent who is leading the task force investigating Harry Bosch and Honey Chandler’s involvement in Carl Rogers’ murder. His first appearance is in episode 3’s ‘Inside Man’ as he barks orders at Agents Sylvia James and Lucas Jones, who have been making initial contact with Honey Chandler over her involvement in the murder. He has a big white board with all the leads they need to chase down during the investigation, and he reminds the agents of his most important mantra, which is written in big letters on the board.
Dig Deeper
Baron is a hard task master and seems way too interested in bringing down Bosch and Chandler, almost like he has a vendetta against them, and establishes himself early on as a villain of sorts in Bosch: Legacy season 2, despite being on the supposed right side of the law.
Baron disappears for a few episodes, and leaves Agents James and Jones to follow up on the leads in the case. In episode 8’s ‘Seventy Four Degrees in Belize’, Baron tells James and Jones they are trying to get search warrants in the Carl Rogers case, but it’s taking longer than he’d hoped, so he has another play for the time being. James and Jones approach Maddie Bosch and interrogate her at the police station, asking her where she was when Rogers was released from prison and how Chandler reacted to it. She reveals they were all upset about Rogers’ release, but she keeps quiet about anything else she knows. The agents tell her they think Harry was involved in domestic terrorism, but Maddie shuts the conversation down.
After Chandler is arrested and subsequently release, Baron is concerned that she’s up to something when she makes a statement to the press. Bosch and Chandler come face to face with Baron for the first time in court when the judge dismisses the case against them. Baron tells Chandler it isn’t over yet, and Bosch steps in to tell Baron to back off.
Baron reveals his plan B to catch Bosch and Chandler involves Jade, who had been going on dates with Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi. Turns out Jade is actually Janice, an undercover agent who has been working the jazz-loving tech whizz to get the information they need to bring Bosch and Chandler down.
Who plays Baron in Bosch: Legacy?
Anthony Michael Hall is an 80s Icon who was part of the famed Brat Pack of that era, which included fellow actors Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald to name a few. Hall had a succession of hit movies in the mid 80s, including Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science, and was destined for bigger and better things.
Not everything went to plan, and the big roles dried up as the 90s came around, as he grew out of his teen roles, but he continued to work consistently with small roles in movies and guest appearances on television. He had a career renaissance when he landed the lead role as reluctant psychic, Johnny Smith in the sci-fi drama series, The Dead Zone, which ran from 2002-2007.
Hall followed this up with a small but important role in The Dark Knight in 2008. He is known to modern audiences as Tommy Doyle in Halloween Kills, and from a recurring role in The Goldbergs as Mr Perott. His role as Agent William Baron in Bosch: Legacy could potentially be expanded upon in the next season after he appeared in five episodes of season 2. However, it hasn’t yet been confirmed if Hall will be returning as the vindictive FBI agent in Bosch: Legacy season 3.
