Boruto: How Naruto Can Become A Jinchuriki Once Again

Highlights

  • Naruto’s importance in the Boruto series is a point of criticism.
  • Naruto’s fate has been bleak, but there’s potential for him to regain power.
  • Kurama’s presence in Himawari takes away from Naruto’s legacy.

Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage, is one of the most important characters in the Boruto series. Whole the Boruto series is about his son, Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto will always remain the face of the franchise, which essentially means that he will always be especially important in the story. One of the biggest criticisms of the Boruto series is that its treatment of Naruto hasn’t been what fans expected it to be. This is especially true right now, because Naruto Uzumaki has been dealt a terrible fate that all fans wished for him to avoid.

Things might get even more bleak for him, but, at the same time, there is a chance for him to return to his former glory, and gain tremendous strength later down the line. It is entirely possible that Naruto might yet end up becoming legendary later down the line into Blue Vortex.

Naruto Uzumaki’s Fate In Boruto

Naruto Uzumaki Was Sealed Away By Kawaki In Boruto

Naruto Uzumaki started the Boruto series at the peak of his powers. He had grown tremendously in both strength and stature and he maintained his position as the strongest shinobi of all time in an absolutely resounding fashion. When the Otsutsuki attacked, Naruto and Sasuke were both strong enough to take care of them in an effective manner. However, with time, Naruto started losing his standing and this was done to give the next generation of Boruto some importance in the story. Generally, butchering old characters that established the series in an attempt to put the younger generation on the pedestal was never going to sit well with the fans and that is precisely what happened. Fans hated Naruto’s loss of importance in the Boruto series, and most expected him to be there, watching over the young Generation, and more importantly, still getting important roles.

But until that day comes, you be well, Naruto!

Naruto Uzumaki was first beaten terribly by Jigen, and later down the line, given a one-time power-up that was essentially a major sacrifice. Naruto lost his Tailed Beast, Kurama, after accessing Baryon Mode, and with it, most of his power. He became a liability in dangerous combat against the likes of Code or other Otsutsuki. Later, he was dealt an even more terrible fate and that was being sealed away by Kawaki. Although the latter wanted to protect him, this led to him being sealed away until he got rid of all those who would do him harm, including his own son, Boruto Uzumaki.

Even after the timeskip of Boruto, things haven’t really changed in the story. Naruto Uzumaki is still sealed away, while all the other next-generation ninjas have potentially reached levels far beyond his. Naruto is not relevant in terms of strength, power, or status anymore, and when he does return, as things stand, he is not going to be special. However, that doesn’t mean that this cannot be changed in the story. Naruto Uzumaki can still gain greater powers once he does return, but, for that to happen, the author will have to show that he wants Naruto to be a part of the series.

How Kurama Ended Up With Himawari Uzumaki

Kurama Was Recently Reborn Within Himawari Uzumaki

The vast majority of the fans had hoped that Kurama would return later down the line in the Boruto series and when that happens, he would reunite with Naruto Uzumaki once again. There wouldn’t have been a better duo in the story than Naruto and Kurama, and it would have been absolutely fabulous to see these two team up once again. Unfortunately, a writing decision that was taken by the authors recently sees to it that this will not happen, at least anytime soon. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it was recently seen that Kurama has been passed over to Himawari.

Good grief. I can’t believe that jerk Ten Tails sniffed me out. Little girl, you know who I am?

After the death of the Tailed Beast, it respawned in the world, only somehow, breaking all logic established by Kishimoto himself, this happened inside Himawari and essentially made her a Jinchuriki. Once the Shinju, the current villains in the story, reached Konoha in an attempt to hunt down Naruto, the tracks of Kurama led them to her as the current host of the beast.

Himawari and Kurama then combined their powers in an attempt to fight Jura, one of the Shinju, and did incredibly well. Essentially, now, it has been confirmed that Kurama is inside of Himawari, and will continue to stay there.

In fact, Kurama even confirmed that the potential he has with Himawari goes beyond that of Naruto Uzumaki, and that, once again, does not sit well with the fans since it is essentially taking all of Naruto’s legacy, ripping it to shreds, and giving a highlight to the next generation just because the author does not have any new and unique ideas for their future characters.

While this does mean good things for Himawari, whatever she does is not going to be unique in any way, and just takes away from Naruto’s own strength. Meanwhile, fans are still expecting Naruto Uzumaki to return to prominence in one way or another, and when he does get unsealed, there might just be a few ways for him to return to power.

How Naruto Can Still Become A Jinchuriki In Boruto

Naruto Uzumaki Can Get Stronger In Boruto

Fans can rest assured that Naruto Uzumaki is going to return at some point later down the line. When he does return, he will be far from his peak as a ninja, but, if the threats looming over Earth are still going to be there, then, Naruto would have to take a stand and grow stronger. As to how he can do that, fans do not know. There are many things that Naruto can achieve in the short time that he has. Perhaps, he can master Sage Mode even more and develop new ways to incorporate natural energy to boost his powers. Or, Naruto can once again become a Jinchuriki. There are a few ways this can go. For one, fans need to remember that Kurama is not the only Tailed Beast in the world. Killer B has Gyuki, which means all the other seven Tailed Beasts are still roaming the world and are friends with Naruto.

Perhaps, Naruto can establish a link with them and gain powers, since they trust him completely. The Tailed Beasts would be willing to give him their powers, especially if it is to defend the planet from an invasion. This is one great power in the Boruto series.

Fans also know that Kurama can essentially be split in half. This is another way Naruto can gain power in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Minato did this long ago using the Shiki Fujin, and this can very well be done once again using a different technique. If Kurama is split in Yin and Yang, then perhaps Naruto can keep one half, while Himawari would get the other. This would be similar to how Minato had one half of the Tailed Beast, while Naruto had the other in the Fourth Great Ninja War. While the chances of this happening are low, it is still a possibility.

However, there is yet another way for Naruto to become a Jinchuriki. This is directly related to the existence of Shinju in the world. The Shinju are a product of the Ten Tails, and fans have already seen them on the hunt for certain individuals. For instance, Jura wants to hunt down Naruto Uzumaki. In the end, when the Claw Marks are ripped apart from these Shinju, they could potentially turn into a version of the Tailed Beast. Naruto could then absorb this power and have a version of the Ten Tails inside of him. Similarly, Sasuke could also have Hidari’s version of the Ten Tails inside of him. This would boost the powers of both Naruto and Sasuke at the same time, and ensure that they stay relevant in the upcoming era of Boruto as well.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12, is set to be July 20, 2024.
