They were able to win over the viewers with their traits and secure a place in their hearts forever. With so many candidates, the question is: who was the best female anime character of 2023?
8 Aki Adagaki
Aki Adagaki became a spoiled brat because of the manner in which she was raised. She was pampered, due to which she had no understanding of how normal people function. Aki Adagaki is extremely cruel toward boys, and she doesn’t shy away from making fun of them.
She is unapologetic and doesn’t feel obligated to tend to the feelings of those that she rejects. While some fans may find her annoying, there is no denying that Aki Adagaki’s bold attitude is refreshing to see.
7 Kana Arima

Anya Forger is among the main characters of Tetsuya Endou’s Spy x Family. She was an orphan who was then adopted by Loid Forger for the sake of his mission to create a fake family. He was unaware that Anya had the power to listen to people’s thoughts, making it impossible to hide anything from her.
With the second season of the anime debuting in 2023, Anya returned to screens and resumed her adventure with Loid and Yor. Using her psychic powers, Anya was able to solve several problems and create many more. With the story becoming a tad more serious, Anya’s antics are more enjoyable than ever.

Maomao’s life was turned upside down when she was kidnapped. After some time, she was sold and ended up working as a court lady inside the inner palace. Maomao is far from a normal person. In fact, she is considered bold, eccentric, and creepy.
However, she is not bothered by it and solely focuses on making potions and testing poisons. Naturally, she is always on the lookout for rare herbs. This weakness of hers often caused problems for Maomao. Due to this reason, she sometimes gets dragged into troublesome situations.

Kiruko won over the hearts of the fans with her complicated personality and survival skills. With the story being set in a post-apocalyptic society, Kiruko’s ability to stay alive is priceless.
Kiruko was tasked with the protection of Maru and ensuring that he reached his destination. Despite the serious nature of her mission, she knows when to crack jokes to liven up the mood. She has to do all of this while dealing with low self-confidence, as Kiruko didn’t know her strengths and would often think that she was inadequate. Thankfully, in the anime, Kiruko managed to find her feet and became more confident.

When the zombie apocalypse started, many people fell prey to it. Only a few were mentally and physically strong enough to stand up to the challenge of staying alive. Shizuka Mikazuki is one of them. She used to work as an accountant, but after the outbreak, she became a sole scavenger until she met Akira.
Shizuka Mikazuki is smart and knowledgeable about various things, which makes her an indispensable part of Akira’s group. She is also logical and capable of analyzing things in a very short time period. Shizuka Mikazuki also has respectable physical strength, as evidenced by her various feats in the anime. With so many anime where female characters have been in the shadow of others, Shizuka is a breath of fresh air.

Kyouko Hori is the main protagonist of the Horimiya anime series. She is a student at Katagiri Senior High School. Hori is a jolly person who uplifts the entire atmosphere with her humor. She is also an extremely hardworking character who ensures that she secures high scores on all of her tests.
However, Hori is not perfect. As a matter of fact, she is prone to violence when she is put under duress or embarrassed by someone. The mixture of calm and aggressive sides ensures that fans are always in for a treat whenever she graces the screens. 1 Frieren
Frieren’s popularity has increased tenfold ever since the anime started to air. She has an aloof attitude, which sometimes perplexes people around her. As an elf, Frieren has a horrible sense of time. To her, years seem short, which often leads to comical situations.
Frieren endeared herself to the audience because of her complex personality. Most of the time, she has a stoic and carefree attitude, but she is still volatile and can throw tantrums that last for several days. Frieren has plenty of special abilities that make her a solid addition to any party. The combination of her personality and strength makes Frieren one of the best female anime characters of 2023.
