While isekai anime do not necessarily have to take place in a fantasy world, that is often the most common setting for many of them. It makes sense why; most isekai is about wish fulfillment, and what easier way to do that than to go to a world where magic and all kinds of otherworldly concepts could be made reality?
Of the many possibilities a fantasy world offers, unique races like elves, dwarves, and beastmen are one of them. Instead of creating merely human characters, isekai series often take advantage of the freedom of the fantasy concept to create unique and memorable character designs. Here are some of the best beastmen characters from isekai anime.
8 Izuna Hatsuse (No Game No Life)
Youthful Representative Of The Werebeasts
Among the many races that reside within the game-loving world of Disboard are the Werebeasts of the Eastern Union. Despite being only eight years old, Izuna Hatsuse serves as the Werebeasts’ ambassador, with her grandfather assisting her.
As part of their plan to conquer all of Disboard, Sora and Shiro challenge Izuna in order to obtain the Eastern Union. Though she ultimately loses, Izuna becomes a capable ally to the siblings, especially due to her skill at games.
7 Rem Galleu (How Not To Summon A Demon Lord)
The Furry-Eared Summoner Of Fate
Rem Galleu is one of two summoners that accidentally summon the man who would become known as Diablo into the world of Cross Reverie. Due to Diablo’s special equipment, Rem’s enslavement spell gets reflected back onto her, and she is forced to travel with Diablo and the other summoner, Shera, in order to undo the slave collars.
As a Pantherian, Rem has natural physical strength and agility that belies her class as a summoner. Despite this, she also uses summons frequently in battle, bringing a mix of magic and martial arts to her fighting abilities.
6 Shea Haulia (Arifureta)
The Lovestruck Warrior Of Love
Shea Haulia is the daughter of the chief of the Haulia tribe, a clan of rabbitman warriors. She is one of Nagumo’s earliest companions, second only to Yue, and her affections for him are both clear and obvious. She often competes with Yue for Nagumo’s attention, especially when more women begin to join his party.
Shea is a capable fighter, able to become even stronger with the use of strengthening magic to increase her power. She is also an atavist with the ability to foresee the future, which she can use to avoid danger.
5 Delta (The Eminence In Shadow)
The Lupine Fighter Of The Seven Shadows
Once a banished therianthrope wolf girl with immense physical strength, Delta became one of Cid Kagenou’s Seven Shadows during her childhood. With her talent for combat, Delta is often sent out on assassinations or other missions that involve fighting in any kind of way.
Though she is an incredible fighter, she is not very smart, and is incapable of using most magic. Though she can be childlike at times, at other times she can be cruel and sadistic, particularly when she is fighting against an enemy.
4 Felix Argyle (Re:Zero)
An Adorable Knight With Undying Loyalty
Felix “Ferris” Argyle is the ever-loyal knight of Crusch Karsten, one of many lords hoping to become the next king of Lugunica. Treated poorly as a child, the discovery of his healing powers allowed him to find purpose at Crusch’s side, which is the reason behind his incredible loyalty.
Though Ferris is a knight, his real abilities lie in his magical prowess, such as his healing ability. His healing ability is so powerful that not only can he bring people back from the brink of death, he can also use it to deal damage, such as by destroying their circulatory system.
3 Raphtalia (The Rising Of The Shield Hero)
A Faithful Companion With A Growing Spirit
Initially a young demi-human girl sold into slavery by Melromarc’s Royal Knights, Raphtalia was once constantly beset by panic attacks and despair. Though she was bought as a slave by Naofumi Iwatani, the Shield Hero, his fair treatment and rough kindness allows her to grow into a skilled sword-fighter.
While she is merely a companion for Naofumi initially, she soon becomes strong enough in her own right and becomes the Katana Hero after obtaining the Vassal Katana in Glass’s World. Though she has gained immense strength and confidence, she remains a noble and stalwart ally of Naofumi’s.
2 Ghislaine Dedoldia (Mushoku Tensei)
A Seasoned Fighter With A Protective Personality
Ghislaine Dedoldia is a member of the Doldia Tribe and a mighty adventurer in her own right. Once a member of Paul Greyrat’s party, Ghislaine eventually entered the employ of the Boreas Greyrats, becoming Eris’s bodyguard and sword-fighting mentor.
Ghislaine is a powerful swordfighter, being recognized as a Sword King in that world’s ranking system. She has a Demon Eye that allows her to see the flow of mana, and her beast race senses give her more awareness in combat.
1 Inuyasha (Inuyasha)
The Half-Human Dog Demon Swordfighter
Born to a demon father and a human mother, Inuyasha suffers isolation from both sides of his blood. Mocked by demons and shunned by humans, Inuyasha decides to cast off his human side, hunting for the Shikon Jewel so that he can become a full-blooded demon.
As a demon, Inuyasha is blessed with incredible strength and speed, as well as a powerful sense of smell and hearing gained from his dog demon ancestry. While he can fight bare-handed, his true power can only be accessed with the power of Tessaiga, his father’s sword.
