The new anime season comes with dozens of new titles for fans all over the world to dive into, with new series being released frequently that tell brand-new stories. Anime is a large medium that touches on many different genres, but one thing that continues to bring in newcomers is the action genre. This season’s lineup has introduced a delightful new anime called Wind Breaker. Wind Breaker follows Haruka, a budding high school student with a thirst for battle. Unfortunately, being born in the days of peace makes a good fight hard to find.
Haruka wanders, getting into countless fights, which is how he finds himself in Furin High School, known for its delinquents and constant fights with rival schools. The local crew seeks to make Haruka one of their top enforcers, but Haruka doesn’t care who he fights, as long as they’re strong enough to satisfy his hunger. Wind Breaker has recently begun streaming and is only a few episodes into its first season. Overwhelmingly desperate, Kenichi berates Miu to train him into being a better fighter, which leads Kenichi into the arms of a secret martial arts gang run by Miu’s grandfather. Things begin to heat up as Kenichi puts his life on the line in search of strength.

Tomoshibi grew up wanting to become a powerhouse, just like the Honki people in the legends he heard as a child. Unfortunately, Tomoshibi discovered he was a coward after leaving his best friend, Asamine, to be battered by a group of thugs. Through happenstance, on Tomoshibi’s first day at school, he finds himself reuniting with his best friend, the target of multiple school gangs with violence on the brain, and now inhabited by the spirit of a real-life Honki person. Tekken is one of the most famous fighting game franchises in the world with a long-standing history of over thirty years. The franchise has its own story and lore that has expanded over the last decade and come to life in a number of animated movies and shows. The most recent adaptation of the Tekken world is the animated series Tekken:Bloodline, which was released on Netflix and took Tekken fans by storm.
The series tells of the early beginnings of Jin Kazuma, one of the main characters of the series, who sets out on a journey of revenge when his mother’s life is cut short by a mysterious monster. Following a note left by his mother, Jin meets his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, who trains Jin in a more violent form of combat than the pacifist Kazama Style he learned in his youth. Unfortunately, only more tragedy is on the horizon, as Jin realizes he’s just a pawn in a much larger game.

Baki just recently concluded its latest season where the strongest being on Earth and his son finally meet face-to-face in the streets of Tokyo, and it was worth all the buildup it took to get there.

Tokyo Revengers mixes the intense action of battle anime with supernatural time travel tropes. Takemichi is a past-his-prime, down-on-his-luck waste who constantly daydreams about the moment his life took a turn for the worse. Nearing the end of his rope, a near-death experience finds Takemichi realizing he has a special power and may be able to get a second chance at life and make things right.
Traveling back to his high school years, Takemichi once again has his girl, his looks, and a loyal gang of his closest friends, and can once again be on top of the world. Only time will tell if Takemichi will be able to change his future for the better.
