As it turns out, the hit romance manhwa Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion has ended up on Crunchyroll.
Crunchyroll tweeted the trailer for Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion and revealed that the romance isekai will stream on its platform when it premieres in April 2023. Opening up with a variation of flamenco music, accompanied by castanets, the trailer introduces a young woman named Rinko Hanasaki standing atop of a rooftop. The next second, she finds herself falling off the building and waking up in another world — the world of the novel she was reading, to be exact. However, she is no longer Rinko Hanasaki, she is now Raeliana McMillan, a side character destined to die.
Raeliana’s Meta-Minded Anime Adventure
But Raeliana has already died once before, and she isn’t about to die a second time. Knowing that her death will come at the hands of her diabolical fiancé, Raeliana decides to strike a deal with the man rumored to possess “a face hiding a devil’s cruelty,” Noah Voltaire Wynknight. The intriguing concept has many fans commenting on the video, expressing their excitement at seeing the manhwa make its animated debut.
Helming the anime adaptation is Typhoon Graphics, who worked on an original series called One Room and adapted an otome game Sengoku Night Blood. Junichi Yamamoto, who directed More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers and worked on the 3D animation for the 2016 romantic fantasy film Your Name. Joining Yamamoto is Mitsuka Hirota as scriptwriter, Haruna Hashimoto as character designer, Yasunori Ebina as sound director and Keiji Inai as composer. Lantis (Free!, One-Punch Man) will produce the music. Additionally, Serra sings the ending song “Always and Forever,” which can be heard in the trailer.
Written by Milcha and illustrated by Whale, Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion first serialized on KakaoPage in September 2016 with the manhwa adaptation launching a year later. The anime adaptation made some changes to the manhwa with the notable one being Eunha Park in the original work being altered to Rinko Hanasaki in the anime. Yume Miyamoto (Blue Period and Tomodachi Game) will voice Raeliana and Yūichirō Umehara (Golden Kamuy and Romantic Killer) voices Noah.
