Trigun’s Epic Reboot Stampede

A reboot of the classic 1990s series by studio Madhouse (Hellsing Ultimate) and based on Yasuhiro Nightow’s manga, Trigun Stampede debuted as part of the 2023 winter lineup and has become of the break-out anime hits of the year so far. Produced by studio Orange (Godzilla Singular Point), the show sees veteran voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch reprise one of his very first roles as Vash the Stampede; it also features the voice-acting talents of David Matranga (Attack on Titan) as Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Sarah Roach (Fire Force) as Meryl Strife, Austin Tindle (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as Million Knives and Ben Bryant (One Piece) as an original character named Roberto de Niro.

Trigun Fans and Cosplay

Of course, the blonde gunslinger isn’t the only character from the reboot to ignite fan imagination. For example, costume maker extraordinaire Insignifaca shared their cosplay of Trigun Stampede’s reimagining of Nicholas D. Wolfwood. The outfit not only features the undertaker’s messy black hair and iconic sunglasses, but it also showcases Wolfwood’s massive weapon — the cross-shaped gun known as Punisher.

Moreover, multiple companies have used Trigun Stampede’s popularity to turn a project by releasing new products. Most notably, Dark Horse Comics is accepting preorders for a special hardcover rerelease of Nightow’s manga and a figurine manufacturer has revealed a striking Vash the Stampede collectible statue that retails for $200.

Both Trigun Stampede and Madhouse’s classic series are available to stream on Crunchyroll. A second season of the reboot has been confirmed.
