The Best Villains’ Best Fights in My Hero Academia, Ranked

My Hero Academia is a love letter to classic shonen manga and American superhero comics and is packed with countless exciting battles in true comic book style. Most of the best fights in My Hero Academia feature the series’ stars like protagonist Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo, but the villains also have some great fight scenes to brag about, too.

Often, My Hero Academia‘s villains shine when they battle not just the pro heroes, but even each other. Villains like Overhaul and Stain will fight absolutely anyone they must in order to survive and make their dark dreams a reality, and they’ll go all out with their Quirks and even their words in battle. The villains’ best fights feature some of the best action sequences in modern anime and some intriguing dialogue and themes, too.

The yandere villain Himiko Toga fought the student heroes Ochaco and Tsuyu twice in the My Hero Academia anime, with the first battle taking place in the forest near that training camp. The second fight between Himiko, Ochaco, and Tsuyu was even better, and not just because of everyone’s Quirks, either.

This relatively bloodless fight was intriguing because it was a tense, emotionally charged clash between Himiko Toga and a girl whom she thought would sympathize with her. Himiko was determined to validate her yandere feelings in Ochaco’s eyes, but Ochaco rejected it, and Himiko eventually fled this tense battle. Ochaco also noticed the tears in Himiko’s eyes and almost felt bad for her.

9 Dabi Vs Geten

Dabi the villain clashed with his fellow bad guys in Season 5 of My Hero Academia‘s anime. He took part in the League of Villains’ clash with the Meta Liberation Army, facing off against the ice-themed Geten. In a way, this was like a warmup for facing Dabi’s little brother Shoto.

Dabi fought well against Geten, even though the latter was much stronger than the League expected. In the end, Dabi scored an unofficial victory when Geten retreated, and Dabi was frustrated that he didn’t get a chance to turn Geten into cinders first.

8 Gentle Criminal & La Brava Vs Deku

Not long after Izuku defeated the masked villain Overhaul, he faced a new foe: the stylish Gentle Criminal. Gentle was a washout student hero who turned to petty crime to get attention online, and then he decided to cause a ruckus on UA’s campus, only for Deku to get involved.

Gentle Criminal tried to talk Deku out of it, then got ready to fight. His Elasticity Quirk made him a surprisingly maneuverable and tricky opponent, fueled by La Brava’s Love Quirk. Ultimately, Deku scored a relatively easy victory, but he was still impressed by the Gentle/La Brava tag team.

7 Re-Destro Vs Tomura Shigaraki

The final battle of League of Villains vs Meta Liberation Army pitted Tomura Shigaraki against his Army counterpart, the suit-wearing Re-Destro. They threw themselves into a brutal, all-out battle, and in that fight, Tomura showed off the power of his awakened Decay Quirk.

Meanwhile, Re-Destro fought hard with his Stress Quirk, which turned him into a powerful, oversized version of himself. Re-Destro may have lost his only real fight in My Hero Academia, but to his credit, he was impressive, and he did well to push the mighty Tomura Shigaraki that far.

6 Gigantomachia Vs Class 1-A & Class 1-B

In My Hero Academia Season 6, the enormous Gigantomachia took part in the great battle against an army of assembled pro heroes and hero students. For the most part, Gigantomachia shrugged off everything the heroes threw at him, and he broke free of several traps, which was impressive.

Gigantomachia also served as an oversized transport for several League of Villains members, such as Himiko Toga and Mr. Compress. He caused all kinds of carnage in that fight, but ultimately, classes 1-A and 1-B, under Momo Yaoyorozu’s leadership, finally took Gigantomachia down.

5 Muscular Vs Deku (First Fight)

In My Hero Academia‘s third season, the League’s vanguard team raided the forest training camp, and several deadly battles broke out. The most brutal fight involved the melee monster Muscular and Izuku Midoriya himself, with Deku fighting hard to shield Kota Izumi from Muscular’s wrath.

Deku and Muscular’s duel was brutal and bloody, and both warriors went all-out to win this contest of sheer strength and punching power. Muscular impressed and terrified MHA fans with his fearsome Pump Up Quirk, which turned his turbocharged muscles into not just a source of strength, but also body armor.

4 Stain Vs Deku, Shoto, & Tenya

Not long after the UA sports festival ended, three of class 1-A’s students got tangled up in a deadly fight with Stain the hero killer. Tenya Iida had run off to avenge his brother Tensei alone, but he got overwhelmed, so Deku and Shoto Todoroki arrived to help.

Those three UA students fought hard and risked it all to take Stain down. For his part, Stain showed off his elegant and vicious fighting style to chill MHA fans to the bone. His strategy involved cutting his foes with katana and knives so he can drink their blood to paralyze them before finishing them off with a stab attack.

3 Tomura Shigaraki Vs Pro Heroes & Students

The highlight of My Hero Academia‘s 6th season was the supervillain Tomura Shigaraki and his clash with all the pro heroes and students around him. He awoke like Frankenstein’s monster, a creature enhanced by dark science to become the ultimate life form.

Tomura fought off heroes like Gran Torino, Mirko, and X-Less during his rampage, and it seemed no one could stop him. He also took on Deku and Katsuki Bakugo and nearly killed the latter with the vicious use of All For One’s Quirks. Both sides exhausted each other and ended the fight inconclusively, but it was still an incredible sample of Tomura’s new powers.

2 Overhaul Vs Deku

Overhaul first met Deku in the streets and left him in peace, but when the two of them met again, they went all-out and fought to the finish. First, Overhaul took on the brave Mirio Togata, who lost his Quirk and got badly injured. Then Izuku took over the fight, determined to protect Eri at all costs.

Overhaul showed Deku the full extent of his amazing Overhaul Quirk, and he even fused with other people to become a giant monster. By then, Overhaul seemed invincible, but Deku defeated him with One For All’s full power and Eri’s constant healing with her Rewind Quirk.

1 All For One Vs All Might

All For One and All Might are the respective symbols of evil and peace, and they were destined to keep fighting until one was forever vanquished. In their second-to-last fight, All For One badly injured All Might, and in MHA Season 3, the two warriors had their final battle in Kamino Ward.

This was the best on-screen fight for both of them, and they held nothing back as the ultimate hero and supreme villain. All For One astounded MHA fans with his enormous collection of Quirks and their devastating combined power, and it took the all-powerful United States of Smash to finally put him down at last. But even so, All For One did his job of ending All Might’s career, and by now, he’s the one getting the last laugh.
