When life gets tough and isn’t waku waku anymore, Spy x Family’s Loid and Anya apparently have to resort to a life of crime.
According to a video uploaded by Anime News And Facts (AniNewsAndFacts), Anya and Loid, portrayed by two cosplayers, have decided to rob a bank in Taiwan. After parking their motorbike, they make their way up to the bank, with Loid procuring a fake gun out of his bag and Anya following suit with her own pink gun from her princess backpack. While Loid is yelling at the customers hiding and covering their heads, Anya rushes to the counters and demands that they fill the bag with money. For a moment, it looked as though Anya and Loid would escape undetected. Sadly, or perhaps not, it turns out Anya and Loid make for terrible criminals because the Taiwanese police instantly catch them. The video is part of a training session for police officers.
The Spy x Family Robbery Spawned Jokes
Twitter users found the video hilarious. A few commenters thought Yor might have been the one person keeping Loid on the straight and narrow path. Komi (shar_komi) jokingly mourned, “Moneys tight after yor won the divorce.” CarlFromAccounting agreed: “Damn the divorce hit him hard.” On the other hand, babyjoshwrldd (Dreadtaichou) thought Yor and Loid might still be together in this alternate universe, but a divorce may be imminent, writing, “Yuri gonna use this as evidence for why Yor shouldn’t be with [Loid].”
Something terrible must have really happened to Loid and Anya for them to rob a bank. After all, Loid had dedicated his life to preserving peace between Westalis and Ostania and is in the throes of his current mission Operation Strix. Aside from his usual duties, consisting of helping Anya with her homework, cooking dinner, offering encouragement to his “fake” partner Yor — all duties required of him from Operation Strix, of course, and are not everyday father/husband tasks — he also occasionally has to do side missions for WISE like stopping a bomb and intercepting a chemical weapon at an aquarium. Meanwhile, Anya is absolutely obsessed with her television show Spy Wars and has some rather interesting ideas on what a spy does. She recently took a trip to fly down to Qatar to attend the World Cup in December 2022.
Created by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family follows the wild shenanigans of Anya, Loid and Yor as they navigate the difficulties of trying to balance their respective double lives: Loid as the spy Twilight, Yor as the assassin Thorn Princess and Anya with her telepathy. Amassing over 29 million copies as of December 2022, the manga is one of the best-selling series of all time. In April 2022, it received an anime adaptation, joint-produced by CloverWorks and Wit Studio. The first season received positive reception, with many raving about the performances from the three voice actors Takuya Eguchi, Atsumi Tanezaki and Saori Hayami, who voice Loid, Anya and Yor, respectively. Spy x Family will receive a second season and an original film in 2023.
