Sailor Moon’s Mina Will Captivate Fans in Lovely Sailor Venus Cosplay

Sailor Moon fans will absolutely fall in love with this impressive cosplay of one of the Inner Sailor Guardians.

Uploaded on Reddit by RhianneMan, the Sailor Venus cosplay recreates the fighter’s orange uniform, including her high heels and tiara; though, the outfit does not feature the character’s large red hair bow. Even though she isn’t the leader of the Sailor Guardians, Minako Aino is actually the first of the Inner Scouts to awaken her planetary powers and begin fighting evildoers by moonlight.

Sailor Moon’s Upcoming Anime Cosmos

One of the most recent trailers for Sailor Moon Cosmos — the upcoming film duology that will complete the Sailor Moon Crystal reboot series — spotlights Sailor Venus alongside her teammates, Sailors Mars, Mercury and Jupiter. The promotional video shows off their signature transformation sequences and highlights each of their unique elemental abilities.

The first part of Sailor Moon Cosmos will premiere in Japan on June 9, with the second part debuting on June 30. Depicting the events of the “Shadow Galactica” story arc from Naoko Takeuchi’s magical girl manga, the narrative will see Sailor Moon and all her allies come together to defeat Sailor Galaxia and her evil empire once and for all. Three of the titular character’s newest comrades — the Sailor Starlights — were introduced in one of the films’ other trailers. The female galactic warriors come to Earth after Sailor Galaxia destroys their home world, and they disguise themselves as a popular boy band.

Another trailer teases the transformation sequences and attacks of Sailor Galaxia’s underlings and confirms the voice actors behind the villainous minions. Fumie Mizusawa (World Trigger) and Yuka Komatsu (Haikyu!!) bring Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi to life in the new movies, respectively, alongside Shiori Mikami (Attack on Titan) as Sailor Lethe and Kanae Itō (God Eater) plays Sailor Mnemosyne.

Sailor Moon’s Lasting Impact

Takeuchi’s Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series appeared in Kodansha’s shojo magazine Nakayoshi from 1991 until 1997, and the story follows protagonist Usagi Tsukino, an airheaded middle schooler who becomes Sailor Moon thanks to her profound connection to the Legendary Silver Crystal, a mysterious artifact. The multimedia franchise, which features novels, stage plays, video games and even an ice skating show, continues to serve as a cornerstone of the anime community. Fans celebrate the series by creating their own content; beyond RhianneMan’s Sailor Venus cosplay, other recent examples include fan art of an evil Usagi and a mashup costume of Sailor Moon and Marvel’s Moon Knight.

Sailor Moon Crystal is available to stream on Hulu.
