Romantic Killer’s creator Wataru Momose will release a new comedy manga called Boku to Jingi Naki Ojisan, or Me and the Old Man Without Honor and Humanity, for Jump+ in December.
As reported by Anime News Network, Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump #52 revealed the news, as well as the title and its release date. The manga will update weekly on Saturdays. It is unknown whether the manga will feature shojo elements, like Momose’s previous work, Romantic Killer.
The Protagonist Is an Elementary School Student
Momose’s upcoming manga will center around an elementary-aged school boy named Yūto. Yūto is house-sitting when a man named Aoi, who lives on the floor above, approaches him. Despite having a cool appearance, Aoi has a surprising secret.
Romantic Killer began as a manga series created by Wataru Momose. It found serialization in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ starting in July 2019 and concluding in June 2020. Its chapters received consolidation into four tankōbon volumes. The books are licensed in English by VIZ Media, with the second volume set for publication on Jan. 3, 2023. Despite being a shonen comic, Romantic Killer features shojo elements, making it appeal to a broader demographic — in fact, it is so well received by readers that it won first place at the second Shonen Jump Vertical Scroll Manga Awards.
The manga went on to receive an original net anime adaptation produced by DOMERICA and directed by Kazuya Ichikawa. Sayuri Ōba and Hiroko Fukuda oversaw the scripts, while Arisa Matsuura designed the characters. Ryo Kawasaki and Tomoyuki Kono composed the music. Netflix released the series on Oct. 27, 2022.
Romantic Killer tells the story of a high school girl named Anzu Hoshino, who has no interest in love outside of the ikemen from her video games. One day, a “love cupid” named Riri approaches Anzu with the intention of helping her experience real-life love. The “love cupid” Riri comes from a world that relies on giving dreams and hopes to children, collecting their pure hearts as energy. Due to the declining birthrate, Riri inserts themselves into Anzu’s life, determined to help her find love from a pool of ikemen. Due to Anzu’s reluctance, Riri confiscates her three favorite things: video games, chocolate and her cat, Momohiki. Left with no choice but to participate, Anzu decides to play along but finds herself establishing genuine connections with her suitors.
The upcoming manga Me and the Old Man Without Honor and Humanity debuts in Jump+ sometime in December. Momose’s previous work, Romantic Killer, is available to read on the VIZ Manga app.
