Pokémon’s New Manga Is Dedicated to Ash’s Anime Substitute

A new manga series starring one of the franchise’s new heroes has been unveiled by Pokémon.

Pocket Monster-Treasure Liko’s is a tie-in with the upcoming anime series Pokémon Horizons, claims ComicBook.com. This manga, written by Kahori Orito, will delve deeper into Liko’s persona as she embarks on her Pokémon adventure with Sprigatito, her starter Pokémon. The first appearance of Liko’s Treasure will be in the May 2 release of Shogakukan’s Ciao Magazine.

A New Pokémon Adventure

With the airing of “Rainbow and the Pokémon Master,” the final episode of the Pokémon anime starring the famous duo, Ash and Pikachu’s story came to an end after 26 years. Liko and Roy, two brand-new trainers in the Pokémon universe, will be the focus of Pokémon Horizons. Liko, like her iconic predecessor, is from the Kanto Region. Liko receives Sprigatito as her starter while attending Sekiei Academy and embarks on a journey to solve the mystery behind a strange pendant.

Along with Liko, there is another trainer named Roy, who also has a unique Pokeball. The latest trailer for Horizons features many of the other characters who will appear in the series, including Professor Friede and his partner, Captain Pikachu. Friede is the leader of the “Rising Volteckers,” a group that travels the world studying Pokémon in a massive airship. A mechanic named Orio, a chef named Murdock, a medic named Molly, and an elderly gentleman named Randou round out the crew. With the exception of Randou, each member of the crew is shown to have a Pokémon partner.

Ash Ketchum Has Left Us

Although Liko and Roy will carry on the Pokemon legacy, the departure of Ash and Pikachu from the anime has had a significant impact on both fans and cast members. After Pokémon announced that Ash would be leaving the series, hordes of fans took to social media to say their final goodbyes.

Rika Matsumoto, Ash/Japanese Satoshi’s voice actor, recently posted an Instagram message about her emotions on the final day of filming for the series. Matsumoto stated that she needed some time to collect her emotions before reading the character’s final lines. When she returned, she said she “poured everything I had into Ash’s voice.”

Pocket Monsters-Liko’s Treasure debuts on May 2. Pokémon Journeys and its subsequent seasons are available on Netflix.
