One-Punch Man Displays Her Power in Genderswapped Cosplay

Saitama becomes One-Punch Woman in a fist-filled genderswapped cosplay.

Shared on Reddit by first-time cosplayer Crafty_Cha0s_, the superhero costume spotlights Saitama’s red and yellow uniform. The pictures show the One-Punch Man fan appropriately throwing punches and striking heroic poses.

One-Punch Woman Lacks Saitama’s Most Iconic Feature

Notably, the genderswapped cosplay doesn’t feature one of Saitama’s most recognizable traits — his signature bald head. Instead, Crafty_Cha0s_’s interpretation gives the character a full head of hair with the long strands pulled back into a ponytail. However, for fans looking for a more accurate take on One-Punch Man’s titular hero, another Reddit user by the name Garoukaral uploaded their recreation of one of the manga’s hilarious panels.

The ongoing One-Punch Man series by One returned after a two-year hiatus, with Chapter 142 dropping on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump back in May to the surprise of many. Readers and fans were further shocked that Volume 28 of One-Punch Man, released on June 2, included a bonus chapter. The seinen manga follows Saitama, who begins the narrative as an average, hardworking citizen; however, after encountered a crustacean-themed bad guy, the young man discovers the joys of battling and defeating villains and monsters. While not born with innate super-powered abilities, Saitama eventually achieves incredible strength and endurance by completing an absolutely brutal workout regimen over three years.

One-Punch Man has greatly resonated with manga readers; with over 30 million copies in circulation globally, the series stands as one of the best-selling manga of all time alongside classics like Tsugumi Ohba’s Death Note and Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket. The story’s high level of popularity resulted in an anime adaptation by Madhouse, the iconic animation studio behind iconic shows like Beyblade, Hellsing Ultimate and Trigun, which premiered in December 2015. J.C.Staff (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) took over production for Season 2, which aired from April to July 2019. A third season was confirmed, but very little information is known about the project at the time of writing.

The One Punch anime stars Makoto Furukawa (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as Saitama. Other voice cast members include Kaito Ishikawa (The Rising of the Shield Hero) as Genos and Aoi Yūki (My Hero Academia) as Senritsu no Tatsumaki.

VIZ Media distributes One’s One-Punch Man manga in North America, and the anime series is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
