Two cosplayers have recreated the death of Naruto’s The Fourth Hokage and Kushina Uzumaki.

@narutos_cosplay posted an image on Twitter of two cosplayers reenacting the moment Naruto’s parents died in the original anime series. The unnamed cosplayers posed as Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki after the Nine-Tails fatally struck them with its claw after they rushed to shield their infant son. In the couple’s last moments, Minato sealed one-half of the Nine-Tails inside Naruto, and they both said their tearful final goodbyes to the baby. The Third Hokage then agreed to Minato’s request to keep Naruto’s identity secret for protection.

Naruto Inspires Epic Cosplay

Cosplayers often pick Naruto characters to recreate due to the anime’s wide acclaim as a member of The Big Three, along with One Piece and Bleach. The Big Three is a term used to describe the three anime as mentioned above at the height of their popularity. Past Naruto cosplays include Bakka’s incredibly detailed take on Kakashi Hatake and Izanamitan’s recreation of Madara Uchiha. Hinata Hyuga and Naruto Uzumaki are also popular choices among cosplayers.

In June 2022, the Naruto franchise released a 10-pound statue called the Battle of Destiny: Namikaze Minato vs. Kurama Ultimate Diorama. The detailed two-foot-tall statue will set fans back a whopping $1,199. The elaborate piece of memorabilia depicts the epic battle between Minato and the Nine-Tails, with The Fourth Hokage holding a Flying Thunder God kunai and Kurama using a Tailed Beast Bomb.

Regarding other Naruto-themed merchandise, HyperX collaborated with the longtime anime to create a gaming peripheral line inspired by the titular character and Itachi Uchiha. The collection includes keyboards, gaming headsets, mousepads and mouses with either bright-colored oranges or crimson and black to model after the respective characters. The anime franchise also joined forces with Fortnite, with characters skins modeled after Naruto, Sakura Haruno, Kakashi and Sasuke Uchiha.

Despite the anime’s continuing popularity with its sequel series and collaborations, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga series first began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1999. Pierrot and Aniplex adapted the manga into its first anime series, Naruto, which premiered 220 episodes from 2002 to 2007. The sequel anime, Naruto: Shippudden, continues the young shinobi’s adventures across 500 episodes from 2007 to 2017. Additionally, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations focuses on the children of the original characters, including Naruto and Hinata’s kids, Boruto and Himawari, and Sakura and Sasuke’s daughter Sarada.

Naruto and its sequel series are available to stream on Hulu. The Naruto manga is available in English from VIZ Media.
