Two Naruto fans showed their powerful will of fire at Malaysia’s Comic Fiesta.
The video, posted to TikTok by Kenneath Lilaero, shows the content creator alongside friend Nicholas Joel Leong on what they refer to as a “casual walk” around Southeast Asia’s largest and longest-running comics, gaming, and animation convention. Lilaero dons a perfect Kakashi getup, complete with a copy of Makeout Tactics, but it’s Leong who really goes the extra mile – literally – by mimicking Guy Sensei’s famous handstand walk around the KL Convention Centre. Lilaero joked in the comments that the beloved Konoha duo forgot to bring Guy’s wheelchair, forcing him to traverse the entire con on his hands. The power of youth, indeed.
Lilaero’s Boruto Reference
Lilaero’s comment refers to Guy Sensei’s physical state in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the follow-up series to the wildly successful Naruto and Naruto: Shippūden. While Guy and Kakashi played a major role in those first two runs of the franchise, Boruto has shifted the focus to a younger crop of shinobi, a decision that has not sat well with some fans. Boruto Uzumaki, the titular protagonist and son of the franchise’s original protagonist Naruto Uzumaki, has born the brunt of criticism from fans for what they have perceived as his disrespect towards the title of Hokage and disregard for his father’s difficult journey to reach that goal.
In addition to Bortuo, the Naruto franchise has branched out with a spinoff manga titled Naruto: Sasuke’s Story. The series follows Naruto’s rival Sasuke Uchiha, filling in many of the gaps left in his journey between the events of Shippūden and Boruto, including the history of his relationship with fellow Konoha ninja Sakura. While the manga may offer an alternative for Naruto fans disappointed with the direction Boruto is taking, the two spinoffs could become more connected than initially expected, with an anonymous source claiming that the anime will adapt a storyline of Sasuke’s Story in two episodes, at least one of which has already aired.
For fans who do enjoy Boruto, of which there are many, the anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll. Naruto: Sasuke’s Story is available in English from Viz Media.
