My Hero Academia’s New Promotional Video Highlights Climax of War Arc

The end is near for Season 6 of My Hero Academia — at least for the first cour.

TOHO Animation uploaded a video on its official YouTube channel, hyping fans up for the upcoming last two episodes of My Hero Academia Season 6’s first cour. Titled “All-Out Battle,” the first part of the video recaps key events that have transpired so far in the season. During one of the most pivotal moments of the season and to emphasize the gravity of the situation, the video falls silent before it transitions into what happened in Episode 11 and what will happen in the next two episodes. Accompanied by the emotional, yet ominous, OST “脅威が行くぞ” or “I will break myself,” the video showcases how equally desperate both sides are in trying to gain the upper hand, the slight bit of edge, over the other. The PV closes with Deku screaming at someone the viewers cannot see.

My Hero Academia’s Season 6 Story

Season 6 of My Hero Academia adapts the “Paranormal Liberation War” arc, corresponding to Chapters 258 to 306 in the manga. The story follows the students of U.A. High School and the heroes, including Eraser Head, Midnight and the current Number 1 hero, Endeavor, engaging in an all-out war against the villains of the Paranormal Liberation Front, newly formed and led by Shigaraki. The heroes are split with one group struggling to hold Gigantomachia back as he tries to reach his master while the other group, which includes Deku and Bakugo, fight a much more powerful, but mentally shattered Shigaraki.

Premiering on Oct. 1, Season 6 will comprise 25 episodes, split into two consecutive cours. Singing the opening “Hitamuki,” is SUPER BEAVER, who sang the theme songs for Haikyu!! To the Top and Naruto Shippuden. Kiro Akiyama sings the ending theme song, “SKETCH.” Yet, the police recently arrested the singer-songwriter for alleged battery against a female acquaintance on Nov. 23. According to Anime News Network, Sony Music Labels revealed that the police released Akiyama and he will not face prosecution as there were “discrepancies between the initial report and Akiyama’s later account.”

Created by Kōhei Horikoshi, My Hero Academia is set in a world filled with people with superpowers of varying natures called Quirks. The story revolves around a young superpower-less boy named Izuku Midoriya who dreams of becoming a hero one day. His idol, the Symbol of Peace All Might, passes on his Quirk, called One for All, to him. As the saying goes, “with great power comes great responsibility,” when Midoriya discovers that he has now been passed the mantle of defeating One for All’s nemesis, All for One. Studio Bones animated the series since Season 1 and has received praise for its animation and music composition. A live-action adaptation, produced by Legendary Entertainment, recently landed on Netflix.

The final two episodes of the initial cour of Season 6 for My Hero Academia will air on Dec. 17 and Dec. 24 on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu.
