The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia manga available now in English from Viz Media and Season 6 of the anime available now on Crunchyroll.
It may not be a possibility now with the current state of things, but one fan artist hopes that the estranged Todoroki brothers from My Hero Academia may reconcile soon.
Season 6 of My Hero Academia has confirmed what many fans have been theorizing for a long time: Dabi is indeed a Todoroki who everyone believed to have died in an enormous fire in the forest. Dabi’s reveal and reunion with Shoto and Endeavor is nothing short of heartbreaking, with the latter two reeling with horror and grief. During their subsequent fight, Dabi wraps his arms around Shoto in a mocking imitation of a hug, intending to burn him. @/chatnoir_252 has illustrated this moment but with a decidedly different, softer sentiment. Although Endeavor had isolated Shoto from his other siblings when he was younger, the fan artist imagined what the two brothers might have looked like by drawing a sad but tender image of Shoto clinging onto Toya, Dabi’s real name, while the latter looks slightly stunned at Shoto’s display of affection.
Endeavor’s Plans for the Perfect Child
Endeavor endeavored to sire a child who would be able to overtake All Might as the number one hero hence why he chose to marry Rei Himura in a Quirk marriage, hoping their offspring would have the desired half-and-half split between his and Rei’s Quirks. Unfortunately, his firstborn Toya only had the fire Quirk, albeit a much more powerful one than his father’s. Toya yearned for his father’s attention, and when Shota was born, symbolizing the perfect child his father had always wanted, his despair and desperation grew until it began consuming him. To make Endeavor proud and prove he could be a hero, Toya trained in Sekoto Peak, where his flames spiraled out of his control. By the time Endeavor arrived, the forest was already consumed with fire, leaving nothing but a piece of his son’s jawbone in the ashes.
As the My Hero Academia manga, written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi, draws to a close, fans have had different theories about how the series will end. In one of the recent chapters, a quote from Detective Tsukauchi has led some fans to believe the series could end with an armistice. Other fans have coped by illustrating fan art of alternate timelines, such as imagining what life would have been like if All Might had found Tenko Shimura first.
Bones adapted Horikoshi’s manga into an anime in April 2016, where it is currently in its sixth season. The anime and manga garnered positive reception and have seen enormous sales. Netflix plans to adapt the series into a live-action work with Shinsuke Sato directing. Directed by Keiji Nagasaki, Season 6 adapts the “Paranormal Liberation War” arc and the “Tartarus Escapees” arc.
Fans can catch up on where the war is at in the manga via VIZ Media or Manga Plus. Season 6 is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
