My Hero Academia’s Dabi knows how to clean up before a big event, especially when it’s as enormous as the one that happens in this week’s episode.
As reported by Anime Corner ahead of My Hero Academia’s Episode 11, Kōhei Horikoshi, the writer and illustrator of the popular manga series, published a new illustration featuring the star of the episode, appropriately titled “Dabi’s Dance.” In the illustration, Dabi is looking exceptionally dapper with his suit, albeit looking a little worse for wear with how frayed it is. He has one of his hands pressed against his chest and one behind his back in a mock imitation of a bow. Mouth open with his tongue hanging out, Dabi is ready to dance in hell.
My Hero Academia Season 6 Gets Intense
This season of My Hero Academia has been fierce right off the bat. Season 6 begins with the heroes fighting Shigaraki’s newly-established Paranormal Liberation Front before having Midoriya facing off against Shigaraki. Yet, “Dabi’s Dance” features, perhaps, one of the most shocking twists in the series. It’s a reveal that leaves no one unscathed. Things are ratcheting up in Season 6, and it doesn’t look like the intensity will taper off any time soon.
As is tradition, Horikoshi has uploaded numerous illustrations a few hours before the airing of the new episode. Before the first episode of Season 6 aired, he illustrated a picture of artwork of Deku posing for a photo. Last week, he penned artwork of Nana Shimura, the seventh user of the One for All Quirk. In the previous episodes, he has posted illustrations of Mirko and Hawks hanging out together; Bakugo, Deku and Eraser Head sitting together with the latter looking bored; and Uraraka and Jiro dressed up for Halloween.
My Hero Academia’s serialization began in July 2014 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Horikoshi created My Hero Academia out of a one-shot he wrote years ago. The mangaka has cited Kamen Rider, Ultraman and American comics as influencing his love of heroes. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, who dreams of becoming a hero. After watching Midoriya’s selfless act of saving his friend from a villain, his idol All Might passes his Quirk, One for All, to him, thus finally giving him the chance to achieve his dream. In doing so, All Might also passed on the mantle for Midoriya to fight against his archnemesis All for One and his protégé Shigaraki, both of whom seek to topple the hero society.
Produced by Bones since Season 1, the anime adaptation of My Hero Academia has been one of the most popular series to date. Tellingly, the 2021 anime film My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission grossed over $47 million worldwide.
