The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 6, Episode 15, “Tartarus”, now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.
Things aren’t looking good for My Hero Academia’s Class 1-A. The recent face-off between the Hero Association and the Paranormal Liberation Front has made it clear how insufficient their battle experience and abilities are. This is especially true for their three main fighters — Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki. However, while this is their toughest challenge yet, it is also a big opportunity to strengthen themselves physically, mentally and psychologically.
The fight between the Hero Association and the Paranormal Liberation Front should have ended with only the professional heroes fighting. Unfortunately, the confrontation has escalated to the point where the students can no longer remain idle. They voluntarily decide to join the fray, which has resulted in a number of them suffering numerous heavy blows. Needless to say, the ones who got it the worst are their three strongest fighters.
Bakugo Is Once Again Reminded of His Incompetence
Bakugo may seem like a harsh and hateful character, but he genuinely cares about his friends. In fact, he has no qualms about putting himself in danger if it means saving them, though he reasonably prefers blasting the threat to smithereens instead. Unfortunately, the former happens more frequently than the latter. He often ends up sacrificing his body since his battle prowess alone is not enough to protect those he needs to protect.
This is exactly what happens during their confrontation with Shigaraki. Bakugo pushes Midoriya from harm’s way, resulting in him taking the full brunt of Shigaraki’s attack. This ultimately leads to Bakugo needing immediate medical care. The bad thing this time around is that despite his efforts, Midoriya still ends up in a coma. Learning this, Bakugo will undeniably start blaming his own weakness. He is likely to come up with another ridiculous yet effective attack or literally push himself beyond his limits.
Todoroki and Midoriya Will Be Maturing Some Time Soon
Todoroki may not have seen most of the action during the Paranormal Liberation Front battle, but that doesn’t stop him from taking damage. Dabi’s revelation not only shakes the world of My Hero Academia, but it also becomes the young Todoroki’s biggest challenge yet. Dabi being Toya easily incapacitates the current No. 1 Hero Endeavor. As Toya’s brother and Endeavor’s son, the responsibility of stopping and one-upping the firey villain falls on Todoroki’s shoulders.
The same is true with Midoriya, who gets a taste of All For One’s power and almost surrenders One For All to the villain. Unlike Todoroki, Midoriya has to be responsible for the entire world of My Hero Academia. Fortunately, Midoriya already knows how to power up. He will have to tap the other Quirks sleeping within One For All and master them. Only then can he actually hope to match Shigaraki’s prowess. Fortunately for him, his latest comatose may become an opportunity for him to communicate with the previous One For All users.
