About Kimi ni Todoke

Originally a manga created by Karuho Shiina, Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You revolves around a 15-year-old high school girl named Sawako Kuronuma, who finds herself misjudged and feared by those around her for her entire life due to an unfortunate resemblance to the main character of The Ring. Because of this, she spends most of her life alone until the day a kind boy named Shota Kazehaya notices her and talks to her. This brief yet meaningful interaction gives Sawako the courage to reach out to other people, starting with her two classmates, Ayane Yano and Chizuru Yoshida. As time passes, she grows closer to Kazehaya, and the pair eventually fall in love.

The Kimi no Todoke manga ran in Bessatsu Margaret magazine from May 2006 to November 2017 and sold over 10 million copies in Japan as of January 2010. In 2008, the series won the Best Shojo Award at the 32nd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards. Production I.G. adapted the manga into a 38-episode series, which aired from October 2009 to March 2011. The series has also received a previous live-action adaptation in the form of a film, directed by Naoto Kumazuma, which debuted in September 2010. Mikako Tabe (Living In the Sky) and Haruma Miura (live-action Attack on Titan) starred as Sawako and Kazehaya, respectively.

Netflix’s live-action Kimi ni Todoke series premieres on March 30. The anime is available on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
