Kidrobot’s latest collaboration with acclaimed manga artist Junko Mizuno will surely set fans’ hearts aflame.

Conceptualized and sculpted by Mizuno, this 8-inch tall Witch Queen Resin Art Figure features a regal woman with a cold gaze that penetrates deep into one’s soul, capable of “gazing past questions of good versus evil and [seeing] her own reality.” Nestled deep in her neatly-braided pale pink hair are two gently-curling horns. A smattering of flowers covers one side of her face while pale green flames hug the other. The motif of flowers and fire continues on the rest of her resplendent gown with the added detail of symbols like a spider, rat, heart, skull and serpent adorning the edge of her long sleeve. At her feet lies a hand bestowing a heart set alight in an emerald fire. The Witch Queen Resin Art Figure will sell for $149.99.

Kidrobot has made a name for itself as the number-one creator and dealer of limited-edition art toys, apparel and accessories. Acting as the space for sculpture and conceptual art to mix to create something new, it then comes as no surprise that this isn’t the first time Kidrobot has collaborated with Mizuno. Known for her unique psychedelic iconography, Mizuno’s work with Kidrobot includes the Berry Soda Girl, Berry Chocolate Lady and Violet Soda Lady, adding to the Dunny series. The artist also created an empowering and sensually risqué figure in 2012 called the Junko Mizuno x Kidrobot Black Kuro Megami Figure. Mizuno recently created a customizable Kidrobot Vladonna drag-inspired fashion doll in 2018.

About Junko Mizuno’s Distinct Art Style

The Tokyo-born artist’s style is most recognizable through her creative blend of childish innocence with horror and erotica. While Mizuno goes to great lengths to ensure her art isn’t married to a specific style, much of her inspiration is from fetish, folk, religious, psychedelic, pin-up and advertising art and Japanese pop culture in the ’70s and ’80s and whatever else may surround her. She has also spoken about the influence of shojo manga works on her style through the use of bright colors and large eyes for her characters. A common thread through Mizuno’s art is her celebration of women by setting them in a universe that reveres their power and energy, both positive and negative.

Now based in San Francisco, Mizuno spends her time creating new art pieces as well as manga. Her debut manga, Pure Trance, received positive reception, with many critics praising her imaginative artwork that seemed revolutionary at the time when it ran in 1996. Mizuno later created a retelling of the classic fairytale Cinderella entitled Junko Mizuno’s Cinderella, which Koushinsya released in 2000. Aside from her comics and product designs, Mizuno is also working on new paintings and illustrations. Her work is available for purchase or viewing in stores, museums and fine art galleries worldwide.

Fans can expect the Witch Queen Resin Art Figure to ship sometime in the fall of 2023.
