Within the Culling Game arc, a notable number of characters meet their demise, yet only a select few qualify as major deaths. These characters, beloved by fans, are perceived as special in multiple aspects, contributing to the emotional impact of their loss.
Ryu Ishigori
Killer: Sukuna
Ryu Ishigori, a sorcerer from four centuries past, found himself resurrected for the Culling Game by Kenjaku. Engaging in formidable battles, he confronted powerful sorcerers like Yuta during the Culling Game arc. Surprisingly, it wasn’t Yuta who claimed his life, but Sukuna. When Sukuna took control of Megumi’s body, Ryu faced him in combat, meeting a swift demise.
Despite Sukuna’s initial unsuccessful attack, he persisted with greater determination in the subsequent assault, cleaving Ryu’s head into three parts and securing his demise in the process.
Iori Hazenoki
Killer: Kenjaku
Iori Hazenoki actively engaged in numerous battles throughout the Culling Game arc. While he didn’t take the spotlight, fans held a quiet hope for his success. Regrettably, he recently met his demise, courtesy of none other than Kenjaku.
During their confrontation, Hazenoki recognized his overwhelming disadvantage and attempted to create a diversion for an escape. Unfortunately, his efforts fell short, resulting in his untimely death. This event subsequently paved the way for Takaba’s subsequent clash with Kenjaku.
Reggie Star
Killer: Megumi
Reggie, another significant character in Jujutsu Kaisen, met his demise in the Culling Game arc. While he may not have played a pivotal role in the series’ overarching narrative, his importance was evident within the context of the Culling Game arc.
Engaging in a prolonged battle against Megumi, Reggie faced relentless probing until ultimately succumbing to a fatal strike delivered by Totality. And thus, his story reached its conclusion.
Yuki Tsukumo
Killer: Kenjaku
Yuki Tsukumo, a Special Grade Sorcerer widely regarded by fans as one of the most formidable in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, possessed unparalleled strength. Her mission was to safeguard Tengen from the formidable threat of Kenjaku.
Regrettably, her encounter with Kenjaku proved to be an arduous struggle. Despite dominating the majority of the battle, Yuki ultimately faced defeat, leading to her untimely demise. The last laugh belonged to Kenjaku, who achieved his objectives by triumphing over Yuki in their fateful confrontation.
Naoya Zenin
Killer: Maki
In the Culling Game arc, Naoya Zenin resurfaced as a vengeful spirit. Previously, he had been defeated by none other than Maki, making his return as a vengeful spirit predictable for fans familiar with the storyline’s patterns.
As established in the narrative, the return of sorcerers as vengeful spirits is a recurring theme. Naoya, true to this pattern, returned with formidable strength, engaging in a valiant battle. Despite his resilience, Maki ultimately triumphed over him once again, this time ensuring a permanent conclusion as he was exorcised for good.
Kashimo
Killer: Sukuna
Kashimo, among the most formidable ancient sorcerers in the Culling Game arc, set his sights on confronting Sukuna right from the onset, a goal he eventually realized.
Throughout the arc, Kashimo concealed his Cursed Technique, Genju Kohasaku. However, when he finally unleashed this power against Sukuna, he managed to land lethal blows. Unfortunately, Sukuna transcended to the next level, employing the power of reincarnation to restore his true form. Once this transformation occurred, the battle took a swift turn against Kashimo. Sukuna unleashed a potent net of Dismantle, sealing Kashimo’s fate and resulting in his complete decimation.
Tsumiki Fushiguro
Killer: Sukuna
Tsumiki Fushiguro played a pivotal role in the Culling Game arc, arguably holding a central position as the main characters aimed to rescue her. Unfortunately, in an unconventional narrative choice, the author opted to have Tsumiki meet her demise.
Yorozu took control of her body and engaged in a futile battle against Sukuna. Despite her efforts, Sukuna proved insurmountable, ultimately leading to their defeat and demise. The situation took a grim turn when Megumi, whose body Sukuna had possessed, became the unwitting instrument of Tsumiki’s death, adding an extra layer of tragedy to the unfolding events.
Gojo Satoru
Killer: Sukuna
Undoubtedly, the most impactful demise in the Culling Game arc of Jujutsu Kaisen was that of Gojo. Following his unsealing, Gojo faced off against Sukuna in the much-anticipated clash that fans had eagerly awaited. It marked the confrontation between the strongest contemporary sorcerer and the most potent sorcerer in history, making it the standout battle in the entire series.
For the majority of the showdown, Gojo asserted dominance and appeared poised for victory. However, Sukuna had the last laugh, undergoing a controversial evolution in the midst of the battle—a development not universally embraced by fans. Despite any divergence in fan opinions, the outcome remained the same: Gojo was defeated, his body gruesomely cleaved in half.
