The first official trailer has dropped for the upcoming isekai, I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too.
The trailer introduces the series’ colorful cast of characters, as well as the show’s opening theme song, “Gyakuten Geki” or “Turnabout Drama,” performed by the Japanese rock group Tsukuyomi. It’s produced by TMS Entertainment and animated by Millepensee, who’s made other anime like Berserk and Cop Craft. The series is slated to debut on Apr. 6.
What is I Got A Cheat Skill in Another World?
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World is based on a light novel series of the same name written by Miku and illustrated by Rein Kuwashima. The story revolves around a lonely fifteen-year-old boy named Yuuya who has been bullied and ostracized his entire life. In a deviation from the standard isekai formula, Yuuya does not die and get reborn into a fantasy realm. Instead, he inherits a house from his deceased grandfather containing a doorway that leads him to the new world. When he passes through, Yuuya gains access to a plethora of incredible new abilities, including one that allows him to travel back and forth between the worlds while maintaining his overpowered state.
Unlimited Produce unveiled the full cast and staff list for the upcoming series in addition to the first trailer. Shingo Tanabe (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean) directs the series alongside Chief Director and Series Composition writer Shin Itagaki (So I’m a Spider, So What?). Masakazu Miyake (KONOSUBA – God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World) will handle Art Direction while Hiromi Kimura is in charge of Character Design. Akiyuki Tateyama (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom) is composing the series’ music.
As for the cast, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, who stars as Bell Cranell in DanMachi, or Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon?, will play the role of Yuuya. Akari Kito, who plays Tanjiro’s sister, Nezuko, in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, will co-star as Yuuya’s close friend, Kaori Hojo. Additional cast includes Kaori Maeda (Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro) as the Arselian Princess, Lexia Von Arcelia, Ai Kakuma (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Luna, Rina Hidaka (Strike the Blood, A Certain Magical Index) as Yuty, Nao Toyama (Goblin Slayer) as Night, Kazuhiko Inoue (Detective Conan) as Usagi and Yuka Iguchi (DanMachi, ReZERO: Starting Life in Another World) as Akatsuki.
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World premieres on Apr. 6. The light novel series is available in English from Yen Press.
