Many cosplayers aspire to breathe life into the characters, and this cosplayer has literally done just that for the titular character of Chainsaw Man.
Cavin Creations (CavinCreations) posted a video of their cosplay of Chainsaw Man on their Twitter page. Not only did they dress up in the Public Safety Bureau uniform, comprised of a white button-up and a black tie along with Denji’s iconic chainsaw head and arms, but they could also even rev up all three chainsaws themselves. The sound of the chainsaws is enough to make any devil quake in fear.
The day before, the cosplayer posted a snippet of their process, showing how the chainsaw in their head ran. In the post, they hung the chainsaw that would normally be attached to their hands onto a broomstick, showing how they might operate it. This attempt is the first time Cavin Creations has cosplayed an anime character.
The Cosplayer Has Experience Making Working Props
Cavin Creations is well-known for making Spider-Man props and outfits from specific Spider-Man movies such as No Way Home and The Amazing Spider-Man. They regularly post videos of their creations, including their web shooters and their Spider-Man masks that they’re able to control completely hands-free. The cosplayer even posted a recreation of the Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man meme with two other spidey cosplayers.
Chainsaw Man’s Anime Inspires Epic Cosplays
Since the MAPPA-produced anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man, many fans have posted some very creative cosplays, from Pochita cosplays that utilize someone’s rear end to a terrifyingly gory Chainsaw Man. First serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2018 to 2020 before transitioning to Shōnen Jump+ starting in July 2022, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man has received critical acclaim for its dark world-building elements and its perversely crude sense of humor. The series has landed on the New York Times Bestseller List several times and won Best Shōnen Manga at the Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2021, beating Teasing Master Takagi-san and Burning Kabaddi. It also won the Harvey Award for Best Manga two years in a row against strong contenders like Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family, Muneyuki Kaneshiro’s Blue Lock and Shūzō Oshimi’s Blood on the Tracks.
Chainsaw Man stars a young man named Denji, who is somewhat of an anti-hero. After being left with his dead father’s debt, does not see much of a point in living anymore. After meeting the devil dog Pochita, Denji regains enough motivation to continue earning money fighting devils in the hopes that he’ll be able to live a normal life. That dream becomes a possibility when he becomes the menacing Chainsaw Man.
Chainsaw Man is currently streaming on Crunchyroll every Tuesday.
