Hatsune Miku Gets a Mistress of the Dark Makeover in Elvira Mashup Fan Art

One very talented anime fan created the perfect mash-up of the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku and the Mistress of the Dark herself, Elvira.

Oscar Vega, a concept art lead at Riot Games, shared mesmerizing fan art of the normally blue-haired diva posing playfully with Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark. The illustration reimagines Hatsune Miku as a raven-haired seductress, complete with a gothic-inspired outfit and long black nails, just like Elvira. Instead of exposing the Vocaloid’s bosom, Vega opted to keep Hatsune Miku’s iconic tie, which acts as a nod to her regular outfit and serves as a modified version of the dagger on Elvira’s outfit but also provides an optical illusion with the line going down the center. The powerful duo float on a crimson background with stylized bats surrounding them, a nice final touch to an already perfectly done illustration.

This artwork isn’t Vega’s first Hatsune Miku-inspired piece. He previously reimagined the Vocaloid as one of the Good Guys, with Chucky balancing precariously on her leg as they both brandish knives. Vega changed Hatsune Miku’s usually vibrant aquamarine twintails colored to match Chucky’s ginger hue, with the dangerous pairing wearing matching patterns, including striped tops. She trades her normal footwear for a pair of red sneakers with white laces, reminiscent of Chuck Taylor All-Stars, while her headband features a punk rock aesthetic with metal spikes.

Vega Effortlessly Captures Hatsune Miku’s Charm

Vega captures Hatsune Miku’s aesthetic flawlessly, even with tweaks to her iconic design, which is no easy feat. Capturing the Vocaloid’s charm in anime form is challenging at best, considering she and her friends don’t have canon personalities. Yet, it’s something Vega managed to pull off while making it look easy.

Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid developed by Crypton Future Media and serves as the company’s official anthropomorphic mascot. A 16-year-old girl with aquamarine twintails, Hatsune Miku’s name means “the first sound of the future,” which, along with her official code name, CV01, refers to her position as the first Vocaloid.

Oscar Vega is a concept art lead at Riot Games who loves fashion and playing the banjo. Fans of his work can find him on Twitter at raspbearyart or on Art Station at raspbeary.
