10 Dumbest My Hero Academia Plotlines

My Hero Academia is one of the most popular new-gen anime. This anime came out at the height of superheroes’ popularity, which was the perfect time. However, it wasn’t just the genre that attracted people to this anime, but its fantastic storytelling and characters.

MHA is praised by most fans, but it isn’t immune from criticism. No story is perfect; the characters in this series are just as prone to making stupid decisions that are clearly just for the plot. It’s easy to let some of these dumb plotlines slide, but others are hard to ignore.

10 One For All

Fans love the MHA movies, especially My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. However, fans were disappointed by the ending because of how silly it was. Midoriya transfers the Quirk One For All to Bakugo in order to defeat the villain Nine.

Once the battle was over, and it looked like Midoriya would lose his Quirk for good, One For All transferred itself back. Heroes Rising needs to keep the show’s continuity, so it makes sense for the Quirk to transfer back, but the method screams deus ex machina. It would have been far more interesting if Bakugo gave the Quirk back willingly.

9 Hagakure’s Costume

Once Mirio was introduced, fans realized how stupid it was that Hagakure didn’t have a costume. Mirio’s Quirk allows him to pass through objects, which is why his costume is made out of his own hair. If it wasn’t, he would pass through his clothing just like everything else.

With the technology found in MHA, there isn’t an adequate plot explanation for why Hagakure has to walk around naked. Since she’s a hero student who fights villains, it’s dangerous for her to walk around so unprotected. It’s clear her state of dress is just for fan service, which is why fans hate it.

8 Shinso’s Quirk

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_2″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_2.png”/>

While some anime fans prefer the original subbed version of My Hero Academia, there are just as many who enjoy the dubbed. The dub does a fantastic job, but there are a few moments that are so poorly interpreted they negatively reflect the plot.

During the Sports Festival, it’s stated that Shinso’s mind control works when someone answers one of his questions. However, he only needs someone to reply to him in order to mind control them. Anyone familiar with the true use of his Quirk would see the dub’s interpretation as a major plot hole, which makes his fight with Midoriya feel really stupid.

7 Aizawa’s Quirk Apprehension Test

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_3″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_3.png”/>

Midoriya had no idea how to control his Quirk One For All when he started at U.A., but that doesn’t mean he’s the most useless student. Aizawa’s Quirk Apprehension test favored physical strength over anything else.

Even if Midoriya did poorly, it wouldn’t make sense for him to land in last place. Hagakure, Aoyama, and even Mineta would have done poorly on several parts of the test. It’s obvious the only reason Midoriya was in last was for the plot and nothing else.

6 Final Exams

Bakugo despises Midoriya. He was Midoriya’s bully for most of their lives, and he beat the snot out of Midoriya during their first hero class. With such a volatile relationship, any teacher would keep these two far away from each other.

However, Aizawa decides to pair them together during the final exam. For drama’s sake, it makes sense for them to be paired together, but fans can’t help but scratch their heads at what Aizawa expected. Their relationship didn’t improve. It actually got worse, which makes the whole part of the story seem dumb.

5 U.A. Crush

During the U.A. licensing exam, Class 1-A is introduced to the U.A. Crush. Since Class 1-A demonstrated their Quirks during the Sports Festival, their abilities are widely known, and the other schools take advantage of that by targeting them first.

However, the U.A. Crush doesn’t make much sense. Once students become heroes, everyone will know their Quirks. Fighting at a disadvantage is just a part of being a hero. The fact that all of 1-A survived the crush shows how dumb it is.

4 Endeavor’s Parenting

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_6″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_6.png”/>

Endeavor’s only goal as a hero was to surpass All Might. When he couldn’t make that happen, he married Rei in order to produce a child with a perfect Quirk. It seems like a simple plan, but it doesn’t make any sense once people think about it.

By the time his children would have been old enough to challenge All Might, he would have been at retirement age, which would diminish the accomplishment. Plus, in order to surpass All Might, they would have to pass Endeavor as well, which Endeavor wouldn’t want. Endeavor ruined his family for a half-baked plan, which is pretty sad.

3 Mineta’s Backstory

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_7″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_7.png”/>

Mineta is the least-liked character in My Hero Academia. He harassed his female classmates, including trying to spy on them while bathing and groping them.

During the Final Exam, Mineta is given more backstory, but it does a poor job of making fans like him. Mineta only wants to be a hero to get girls’ attention, which makes fans dislike him even more. If his backstory was supposed to make fans understand him better, it did a terrible job.

2 The Training Camp

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_8″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_8.png”/>

The training camp was supposed to prepare the U.A. hero students for getting their licenses. Unfortunately, they’re attacked by the League of Villains, and Bakugo is kidnapped. Considering the villains had attacked the hero students already, it doesn’t make sense that the teachers were so unprepared.

There should have been way more heroes there to take care of the students, especially since there were so many of them. Everything went wrong because Aizawa had to do everything himself, which wouldn’t have happened if the heroes had been prepared.

1 Toga’s Fight With Uraraka

10 Dumbest <a href=My Hero Academia Plotlines_9″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/11/10-dumbest-my-hero-academia-plotlines_9.png”/>

During the War Arc, Toga struggles to understand the relationship between heroes and villains. She even asks Uraraka what being a hero means to her. However, it’s hard to sympathize with Toga when she’s a literal murderer.

It completely makes sense for Uraraka to want to stop Toga, especially when she’s responsible for so much hardship. It doesn’t make sense for Toga to be so upset by the heroes’ treatment of villains when she’s hurting so many people. Even Twice’s death was deserved, even if people don’t want to admit it.
