It’s no secret that Dragon Ball GT didn’t live up to fans’ expectations after Dragon Ball Z. Trying to take everything back to the adventurous tone of the original Dragon Ball, GT stumbled by nervously embracing DBZ’s battle-oriented storytelling in its latter half. As disappointing as DVGT may have been, the series ends on an emotional high note by highlighting Goku’s legacy far into the future.

Dragon Ball Ball GT’s final episode featured a fight between Goku and Vegeta’s descendants, but there may be more going on here. Reincarnation plays a major role throughout Dragon Ball Z (especially at the end wth Uub) so it’s possible – if somewhat unlikely – that Goku’s great-great-grandson is actually him. Here’s how the original Z Fighter seemingly lived beyond all the others.

Was Goku Jr. in Dragon Ball GT Goku Reincarnated?

The names are one thing, but Goku, Jr. and Vegeta, Jr. in the last episode of Dragon Ball GT are the spitting images of their ancestors. In fact, it’s almost as if the Saiyans were just shrunken down to child size, which to some extent may be true. As mentioned, reincarnation had by this point been long-established in Dragon Ball, with Uub being the result of Goku’s desire to see the evil Majin Buu reincarnated as a good person.

Upon fighting each other in the latest 64th Tenkaichi Budokai (World Martial Arts Tournament), Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. instantly threw punches as if they were old rivals. After all, how else would they be able to so easily take on their Super Saiyan forms? The boys even sound exactly like Goku and Vegeta, especially Goku, Jr. At the same time, there are numerous details that contradict this theory, potentially making it a complete impossibility.

Goku Jr. Is Almost Nothing Like The Real Goku

While they look laike, Goku Jr. acts nothing like his ancestor. Quiet, timid, and utterly cowardly, he even lacked the confidence to defend himself early on. When Pan fell ill in A Hero’s Legacy, Goku Jr. sought the Dragon Balls to wish for her health. Unfortunately, his own lack of strength and courage constantly held his journey back.

This isn’t the only thing that contradicts the reincarnation theory. Saiyans can live for incredibly long times, especially if they take good care of themselves physically. It’s easy to assume that both Goku and Vegeta themselves are still alive and kicking, as they’re full-blooded Saiyans. Goku even appears in the final episode watching over Pan and Goku Jr. If that’s the case, how could Goku possibly reincarnate? Never mind the fact that Goku was still in his reverted child form when he left with Shenron at the series’ end.

Likewise, Capsule Corporation owner Bulma Leigh is the mother of Vegeta, Jr., and she looks and sounds just like the original Bulma Briefs. If anything, it’s likely a case of genetics that explains the Saiyans’ generational looks. After all, Bardock, Goku, and Goten all look basically the same at certain points in life, while Vegeta and his father look quite similar too. While Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. may not be reincarnations of their ancestors, their power and appearances still honor their legacy.
