LEGO has teased a BTS-themed set perfect for a K-pop fan’s collection.
The classic building-brick toy company released an image featuring the mini-figure silhouette of the seven members of BTS: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Indicatively, LEGO captioned its official tweet with lyrics to “Dynamite,” the band’s first number-one single in the United States. A year earlier, LEGO Ideas builders JBrickFanatic and BangtanBricks came up with the idea of a LEGO set based on the music video for the BTS hit “Dynamite.” The BTS-themed set officially drops on the LEGO website on Feb. 16.
BTS’ Military Hiatus
In June 2022, BTS announced the band would remain on hiatus until 2025 while its members served their required time in the South Korean military. Recently, Jungkook, the youngest member of the K-pop group, covered more than 30 songs in a four-hour karaoke session on Hybe Corporation’s social media platform Weverse. In addition to Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend,” Jungkook covered “KICK BACK,” the opening theme of the popular anime Chainsaw Man.
Kenshi Yonezu’s “KICK BACK” has over 64 million views on MAPPA’s YouTube channel and nearly 150 million streams on Spotify. Besides Yonezu, Chainsaw Man features other artists like Vaundy, Aimer, TK from Ling Tosite Sigure and Queen Bee singing different ending songs. Following Jungkook’s cover, many fans rallied for the BTS member to make an appearance on the soundtrack of Chainsaw Man Season 2.
LEGO Goes Middle-earth
In addition to BTS, LEGO has brought back The Lord of the Rings sets after a decade-long absence. With 6,167 pieces and 15 mini-figures, LEGO unveiled the Rivendell project for adults 18 and older. “The building set is decorated with foliage that creates the feeling of being deep inside the Rivendell™ forest and includes magical details including an elven forge, Elrond’s cluttered study, the Shards of Narsil™, plus paintings and statues from the history of Middle-earth™, reads the item’s description. “This highly requested building set has been designed for The Lord of the Rings™ fans and film lovers who appreciate stunning design.”
As for the company’s involvement with the video game industry, a recent leak suggests the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will receive five LEGO sets throughout 2023. Prices range from $29.99 to $99.99, with the LEGO piece counts beginning at 292 and increasing to 802 for the most expensive set. The rumor claims LEGO will reveal the SEGA-themed products on Aug. 1, 2023.
The BTS set releases on the LEGO website on Feb. 16 for an undetermined price. The Lord of the Rings Rivendell set launches on March 9 and retails for $499.99.
