Love it or hate it, the Boruto series is in full swing. While the manga was pretty well-received during the “Kara” and “Isshiki Otsutsuki” arcs, since they both ended, the series has become a bit slower. It’s obvious that the manga has been using this time as a transitional period to set up the next big arc.

Recently, readers have been introduced to brand-new characters in the form of a pair of cyborg siblings, Daemon and Eida. Originally working with Code, the last remaining member of Kara, the pair has been portrayed as practically unstoppable. While Daemon has been treated like the bigger threat of the two, being able to reflect any type of attack back at his opponents, Eida might just be the true threat.

What Are Eida’s Powers?

Boruto: Has Eida's Weakness Just Been Revealed?_0

Eida is a cyborg created by Amado for Jigen back when he worked for Kara. However, Jigen had her locked away in a base along with her brother due to them being stronger than even himself before he reincarnated into that body as Isshiki. Needing as much power as he could get since Kara’s decimation at the hands of Kashin Koji and the Hidden Leaf Village, Code went and awakened her from her induced sleep.

As a cyborg, Eida most likely has all the general enhancements that the other members of Kara had, including enhanced physical abilities and stats. She has also recently shown herself capable of self-propelled flight — an ability that wasn’t present in all the cyborgs. While she has yet to participate in any form of physical fight, it’s because she has never once needed to, and not just because Daemon is always protecting her. She also has clairvoyance, allowing her to see all that is happening and has happened from when she was born, giving her access to incredible amounts of information. According to Amado, she can even see things in other dimensions.

Her greatest power, which seems unique to her, is that anyone that sees her instantly falls in love with her. It’s an unusual but incredibly effective ability, as anyone that would seek to do her any harm becomes paralyzed at the thought of wanting to hurt the person they’re in love with, and she also gains complete control over them. If they try to fight against it, the affected person experiences intense headaches, vertigo, fever and ultimately, brain damage. This essentially allows her to win any confrontation without having to do anything at all. The power is so great that it even affects other cyborgs like Delta, which shows just why Jigen was so afraid of her.

What Is Eida’s Weakness?

Boruto: Has Eida's Weakness Just Been Revealed?_1

So far, everyone who has seen Eida has fallen in love with her except Boruto, Kawaki and Daemon. It can be reasonably inferred that the power doesn’t work on Daemon due to them being brother and sister, which would be unsettling for obvious reasons. The power also apparently has no effect on the Otsutsuki, which is why both Kawaki and Boruto are immune due to them both now being genetically the same.

While Eida’s power seems to make her invincible, the most recent chapter of Boruto might have secretly revealed its weakness. Aside from the three mentioned above, the power seems to have one flaw being that the person must see or get a decent look at her face for it to work. This was shown when both Shikadai and Sarada were able to see her arrive at a safehouse but couldn’t get a glimpse of her face. While they were completely unaffected, Mitsuki, Chocho and Inojin were all captivated by her. Even Konohamaru and Shikamaru fell for her immediately after seeing her. showing just how effective her powers are.

This could be a game-changing discovery. As long as those who oppose her don’t see her face, they will be completely unaffected by her abilities, which could be why the series kept Sarada unaffected. With her Sharingan, her ability to track the movements of her opponents is unmatched by anyone aside from her father, Sasuke Uchiha, meaning that theoretically, she can take down Eida just by focusing on her body language. This is possible, as Might Guy trained himself to fight Kakashi Hatake by only looking at his feet and never his eyes due to the Sharingan that Kakashi had. It would be a difficult way to fight an opponent, but the series has already proven that it can be done.

Considering Sarada has the special duty of monitoring the situation from afar, she is poised to be the one to take down Eida if things go sour, especially if Boruto or Kawaki are unable to do so for whatever reason. Daemon seems suspicious of the two of them and will likely be the wariest of them, meaning that as long as Sarada can find a way to strike Eida without getting a clear look at her, it’s possible for her to win. Due to Eida’s clairvoyance, this may seem almost impossible — although as long as Eida isn’t actively using the ability or directly applying it to locate and follow Sarada, the chances aren’t so bad. Sarada has already managed to take down one Kara cyborg with her Sharingan and tactical mind, so it’s possible that lightning will strike twice.

It should also be remembered that as of now, Eida hasn’t actually done anything to make herself a villain to anyone yet, whereas her creator Amado has been nothing short of problematic since he came to Konoha. It’s possible that she’ll become an ally to Boruto and the Hidden Leaf Village, especially if her romantic feelings for Kawaki are as true as she states. With Code seemingly preparing to attack the Hidden Leaf with an army of White Zetsu, Eida’s aid could be paramount to Konoha’s victory, especially now that Naruto and Sasuke are significantly weaker than they were the last time something like this happened.

That being said, it does seem rather odd for the series to highlight Sarada not being affected by Eida if that won’t come up later in the series. If Eida does eventually become a villain, it could give Sarada a much more important role in the story, which would be great considering how little the series has given her to do for the past year or two. Hopefully, the series picks up soon and reveals the reasons behind this, as well as takes the time to dive deeper into Eida and her dynamics with the Hidden Leaf shinobi.
