Aggretsuko is a relatable — if exaggerated — look at work lives and love lives and how no one seems to have as much grip on either as they would have others believe.

Although the jewel gets shattered and is spread all over Sengoku Japan, Kagome is joined by a half-demon named Inuyasha, and the two slowly become closer throughout the series.

While Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship is a long time coming, fans can’t get enough of their romance, despite the surrounding chaos. Though it takes a lot for them to admit their feelings, the ending of the anime satisfies any doubts about Kagome’s true purpose in the new world.

Violet Evergarden is the heartbreaking story of the titular character. Having recently fought in a war, Violet must navigate life after fighting on her own. As she finds her place in society, Violet is haunted by the last words her superior, Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, said to her. Spurred on to find meaning, Violet becomes an Auto Memories Doll to write love letters for those who can’t.

As she writes, Violet slowly comes to understand the meaning of the words, “I love you,” and finally acknowledges her own feelings that she harbored all along. This anime is a touching but tragic view of the various types of love, and what each one has to offer.
