Threezero, the manufacturer of merchandise, is currently open for preorders on two new collectible figurines featuring some of the deadliest characters from the world of Berserk.
Found on Sideshow, the first figure showcases Guts and is available for $260. This intricately designed figure stands at an impressive height of over 12 inches and boasts numerous points of articulation, allowing for a diverse range of poses. It comes with a variety of interchangeable accessories, including multiple hand options. Of notable mention is Guts’ iconic sword, Dragonslayer, which stands nearly as tall as the figure itself. The collection also incorporates various other weaponry choices.
The second figure, the Skull Knight, stands at a towering 14 inches and retails for $280. This figure also offers a selection of interchangeable options and accessories. One of its standout features is the LED light-up eyes, powered by three AGI batteries. Both figures are slated to commence shipping in the latter part of the year.
Berserk, the manga authored by Kentaro Miura, debuted in the now-defunct Monthly Animal House magazine before finding its home in Hakusensha’s Young Anime in 1992. Set within a brutal and dark fantasy realm, the series portrays a world plagued by monstrosities and rampant atrocities. The central narrative tracks Guts, also known as the Black Swordsman, on his relentless quest for vengeance against his former comrade and commander, Griffith.
Berserk Continues at Studio Gaga
In the wake of Miura’s unexpected passing in 2021, the reins of Berserk were taken up by mangaka Kouji Mori, supported by the talented artists at Studio Gaga. This dark fantasy series stands as a prominent pillar within the genre and has served as a wellspring of inspiration for creatives across the global entertainment industry. Eminent figures like Hajime Isayama of Attack on Titan, Kazue Kato of Blue Exorcist, and Makoto Yukimura of Vinland Saga have all acknowledged Miura’s work as influential to their own creations. Adi Shankar, the showrunner of Castlevania, along with assistant director Adam Deats, have openly discussed the impact of Berserk on the Netflix Original.
Beyond the professional sphere, Berserk has cultivated a devoted fan base, with enthusiasts expressing their affection for Miura’s narrative through their own creative expressions. For instance, a Reddit user known as Kantasea shared a genderbent cosplay of Guts, perfectly capturing the character’s fierce combat prowess and untamed spirit. The cosplay even features a blood-spattered rendition of Dragonslayer. Additionally, a resourceful gamer employed the Ultrahand mechanics from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to meticulously recreate the Eclipse, one of Berserk’s most somber and chilling moments.
MangaMonster handles the distribution of the Berserk manga series, while Crunchyroll offers access to the anime adaptations crafted by Liden Films and Studio 4°C.
