The Laughing Man proves to be the ultimate hacker, capable of such feats as hijacking multiple video streams simultaneously, taking over someone's cybernetic brain entirely, or even editing his own images out of someone's cybernetic eyes, and all in real time. The Laughing Man logo is an animated image of a smiling figure wearing a cap, with circling text quoting a line from Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Rye, which reads: "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes."
After the events of the Section 9 raid by the Umibozu and the last meeting with Motoko and Aramaki, it was discovered that Aoi, though responsible for the initial incident that made the Laughing Man a phenomenon, was not in fact its true originator. He chose to confront Serano only because of the file he found, and despite years of extensive investigation on his own part, he never discovered the origin of that file. It could be said that whoever abandoned the file was in fact the "real" Laughing Man - and it is possible that he obtained it from someone else. Aoi tells Aramaki to make of that what he will.
A few days after Romeo's banishment, Mercutio agrees to be adopted as Montague's new heir but is unprepared for the bloody initiation, whose climax was Titus' death at the hands of Montague. Paralyzed by fear, Mercutio could not voice out for help nor assist his father's peril, and later swore his loyalty to the bloodied Montague. He tries to fit the mold of Montague's heir but, in truth, the event of his father's death has traumatized him and his guilt over doing nothing envelopes him. The obvious collapse of Montague's reign drives him to do what he thinks will get him the most praise: he stabs Montague and "saves" Juliet. Expecting to be called a hero, he is stricken when Tybalt dismisses him and leaves from the scene in mad laughter.

Later in the series, Takumi used the Trueno more than Bunta, so he gave the car to Takumi. While test driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type R Version V on Akina, Bunta defeated his son, inducing a 4WD complex in Takumi. Bunta decided to buy the car, but hid this fact from Takumi for some time (Fourth Stage, 14th episode). After revealing that he was the driver, he then told Takumi he was to alternate between the Impreza and his Eight-Six for deliveries - another strategy to improve Takumi as a driver, showing him the potential of modern cars, and the characteristics of 4WD. While this shows his training strategy, we still see that Bunta is, once again, proven to be the most formidable opponent in Akina.
(Trivia: There is a lot of confusion about Bunta's car. It is a Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type R version 5. Many confuse his car with the legendary Subaru Impreza 22B. This is because Bunta's Impreza is not wearing the stock Version 5 front bumper, but rather an "aftermarket" STi Sport Bumper which looks identical in almost every way to the 22B stock front bumper.)
While Altena may seem to be a gentle, motherly figure, this woman certainly possesses a dark side that is reflective in her philosophy that "If love can kill people, hatred can save them." This belief is the driving force which governs all of her actions, and she has instilled this creed into Chloe, whom she raised alone within the archaic confines of the Manor. He fights Gohan and Kuririn, and nearly kills them before being decapitated then blown up by Vegeta. In an anime filler, he fought Chaiozu but was quickly defeated, before later making cameos in other fillers in a non-speaking role.
When Baki and Yujiro fought, Emi looked on as Baki was beaten into the ground, seemingly dead. Suddenly she snapped and risked her life to save Baki. Although Baki survived the ordeal, Yujiro killed Emi, breaking her back with a bearhug.
