Sorawo Kamikoshi is a timid and antisocial university student with a knack for exploring ruins. Although she is well-versed in urban legends, she expresses dislike for what she considers "fake rumors" — as opposed to "true ghost stories" that are primary accounts of witnesses to paranormal events.
Sorawo found the "Otherside" by chance and initially planned to make it her secret retreat, until she met Toriko there. Together, they explore the Otherside, uncovering its mysteries and collecting artifacts to sell to Kozakura for research. After a confrontation with a Kunekune from the Otherside, Sorawo's right eye is left permanently blue and gains the ability to see the Otherside beings' "core." She usually wears a brown contact lens in order to not draw attention to it. It appears that she is more susceptible to being manipulated by illusion-type apparitions, usually requiring Toriko to snap her out of the hypnotic trance she's put in.
About her family:
Sorawo's mother died when Sorawo was young, leaving her in the care of her father and grandmother who fell in with a cult. Not wanting to be converted, Sorawo spent the majority of her high school days in manga cafés or exploring ruins, even managing to escape a kidnapping orchestrated by the cult. One day, she was informed that the remainder of her family and all the other members of the cult had perished in a fire in the mountains, though Sorawo never got to see their bodies. She confesses to Toriko that, had the fire not happened, she would've taken matters into her own hands.
In volume 4 of the novel, Sorawo realizes that she had seen the Red Person apparition before, long before coming into contact with the Otherside, and it had tried to get her to pour gasoline over herself and light herself on fire.
