Since Jujutsu Kaisen antagonist Ryomen Sukuna transferred his soul into Megumi Fushiguro’s body, the King of Curses has shown himself to be far more adept at using the Ten Shadows cursed technique than the student sorcerer ever was. He’s already introduced two new shikigami that Megumi never had accessed to and has presumably tamed the Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga. With the strides he’s making, it’s only a matter of time before Sukuna begins to augment his Domain Expansion with this new technique.

Very few sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen are able to use Domain Expansions; only Hakari Kinji and Kenjaku have been able to do so consecutively thus far. Hakari achieved this because of his Domain’s ability to grant him infinite cursed energy, while Kenjaku’s possession of numerous cursed techniques give him access to multiple unique Domain Expansions. Sukuna currently has at least two cursed techniques, which suggests a similar feat might not be impossible for him to achieve -- but that’s only scratching the surface of what the Ten Shadows could do for his domain.

The Similarities Between Megumi’s and Sukuna’s Domain Expansions

Megumi first achieved his Domain Expansion in Jujutsu Kaisen through sheer force of will. Whether it was because of his lack of practice or innate natural talent, Chimera Shadow Garden manifested without first constructing a separate space for him to project his Domain onto. Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine is much the same, but in his case the lack of borders for his Domain are an intentional choice.

These border-less Domains span a much larger area than the traditionally closed versions, but they have the added disadvantage of being able to be simply walked out of if an opponent is quick enough. Megumi managed to work around this weakness during his fight with Reggie Star by projecting his Shadow Garden unto an already-existing physical building, reaping all the benefits of his Domain’s lack of structure while mitigating the worst of its risks.

Both Megumi and Sukuna reap all the traditional benefits of Domain Expansions, but their shared weaknesses translate into strengths in other respects. For example, their cursed techniques’ effectiveness and physical abilities are strengthened upon activation. While this is true for every other sorcerer, these two are about to take special advantage of this since they can fight traditionally, given the large expanse of their Domains.

How Sukuna Could Take Advantage of Chimera Shadow Garden

Megumi’s Domain allows him to summon an uncountable number of shikigami that attack his opponents without any need for his input. With Sukuna’s levels of cursed energy, this number could swell to infinite shikigami -- along with the empowered forms that only he has been able to conjure. With Sukuna’s level of jujutsu mastery, the King of Curses may well be able to imbue these shikigami with his own techniques, guaranteeing their every hit could be punctuated with his trademark slashes.

As terrifying as the possibility of Nue or Divine Dog Totality wielding Cleave and Dismantle is, the real danger of Fushiguro’s Domain lies in the fact that it’s entirely a projection of his shadow. A simultaneous activation of both Domains could result in the continuous activation of Cleave and Dismantle throughout the entire space while allowing Sukuna to teleport anywhere within it at will, which could end up being a highly disorienting experience for opponents.

The same principle could be applied to his other cursed technique, which is flame-based. Theoretically, Ryomen Sukuna should be able to turn the entire Domain into a literal furnace since his cursed energy could be projected from any location within it. Without an equally powerful Domain, it’s hard to imagine any sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen surviving that.
