A new preview is out for Encourage Film’s upcoming anime series Chillin’ in My 30s After Getting Fired From the Demon King’s Army.

Otaku USA Magazine highlighted the new preview in a recent article, with the short video focusing primarily on series leads Dariel and Marika. It also reveals several new cast members while featuring the show’s opening theme, “Changemaker,” performed by Hinano. The new series will have its broadcast debut on Jan. 7, with Crunchyroll streaming episodes as they air in Japan.

This anime is an adaptation of Rokujuuyon Okazawa and sagejoh’s light novel series, which was serialized online via the self-publishing novel website, Shosetsuka Ni Naro, from November 2018 to July 2020. These light novels were later adapted into a manga by Rurekuche. The series revolves around Dariel, a talented dark soldier of the titular army that initially serves as an assistant to the army’s Four Generals, despite the fact that he is unable to wield magic. However, when the Four Generals are dismissed and replaced, Dariel is fired from his position. Shortly thereafter, the former soldier stumbles upon a village and decides to devote his life and skills to it, completing requests for the townspeople and improving their daily lives. Over the course of the series, he develops a close bond with a girl named Marika and starts to realize that he could be more powerful than he originally believed.
