Megan Thee Stallion, the rapper and songwriter from Houston, Texas, reveals she’s watching anime like Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist.

In an interview shared by AnimeFitLa, the popular Hip-Hop artist shared her daily passion for anime. “I literally begin my day watching anime and I end my day watching anime,” Stallion said. “When I’m doing my makeup, I’ll have it playing in the background. Before I go to sleep at night, it’s what I fall asleep to.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s Life as an Anime Fan

Stallion says she’s watching various anime like Highschool of the Dead, Assassination Classroom, Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, Hunter x Hunter and Attack on Titan. In the video, Stallion showed off her nails, decorated in the style of Blue Exorcist (and gave a shoutout to her nail stylist). She also talked about her not-so-secret love affair with My Hero Academia. On Oct. 31, 2022, Stallion dressed herself up as Rumi Usagiyama, the Rabbit Hero: Mirko from My Hero Academia, for Halloween.

The My Hero Academia manga staff also loves Stallion. Shōta Noguchi, a manga assistant for series creator Kohei Horikoshi, uses Stallion as a visual reference for his illustrations of Mirko. All of Mirko’s illustrations are based on real-life outfits Stallion has worn in public, such as her Houston Rockets ball cap and red-and-black bikini top.

Of course, Stallion isn’t the only celebrity who loves anime. Michael B. Jordan, the star and director of Creed 3, talked about how his love of anime — Dragon Ball Z, in particular — shaped the successful sequel. The film’s production staff even designed Jordan’s red boxers in the style of Akira as a nod to the actor’s love of anime. “I just leaned into the love Michael B. Jordan had for anime,” costume designer Lizz Wolf said. “Here’s our honorable nod to Akira and Kaneda’s design. Raphael Phillips and Geo Pavlov solidly brought this into view.”

For the Japanese theatrical release of Creed 3, an anime special called Creed Kako no Gyakushū (Creed: Revenge from the Past) aired at the end of the film. Yo Moriyama directed the anime special, while Katushiko Manabe and Kensaku Kojima wrote the script. Creed 3 is currently available on Prime Video.
