The following article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 204 ,”Blood and Oil, Part 3”, by Gege Akutami, John Werry and Snir Aharon, available in English from Viz Media.

Chapter 204 of Jujutsu Kaisen picked up right in the middle of Choso’s fight with Kenjaku. Although the ancient sorcerer had retained the upper hand for most of the fight, Yuki seemed content to let Choso die a pointless death against his father. At least, until Kenjaku debuted a new technique.

Suddenly, she’s entered the fray and looks battle-ready for the first time ever in the series. It appears Kenjaku may have fallen into an unseen trap Yuki set especially for him.

Who Is Yuki Tsukumo In Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuki Tsukumo is one of the few four special-grade jujutsu sorcerers teased in Jujutsu Kaisen. Unlike the other three, Yuki prefers to live life on her own terms, with no attachment to Jujutsu High or any of the other institutions sorcerers normally associate with to undertake missions.

She’s a rogue whose Cursed Technique hasn’t been revealed yet, but is apparently powerful enough to prevent the sorcerer higher-ups from harassing her for her nomadic lifestyle. To put her approximate skill level in better perspective, the only other special-grade jujutsu sorcerers are Gojo Satoru, Yuta Okkotsu and Geto Suguru, whose body is currently being inhabited by Kenjaku.

Even though she prefers not to be tied down, Yuki still contributes to jujutsu society in her own way. She adopted Aoi Todo, and trained him to reach his formidable strength all on her own before enrolling him in Kyoto High. Like Suguru Geto, she shared a vision of a world full of curses, and made no bones about exterminating them.

Most recently, she was revealed to be a former Star Plasma Vessel. Since the end of the Shibuya Incident Arc, Yuki and Choso have been standing guard over Tengen in order to prevent Kenjaku from assimilating him.

Before Kenjaku began his assault on Tengen’s lair, Yuki and Choso had agreed to let Choso handle him alone. This attack strategy had two purposes; to bait Kenjaku into revealing information about his cursed techniques, and to prevent Choso from getting in the way of a fight between two sorcerers of special grade rank.

Their agreement was that until Kenjaku revealed his Domain, Yuki would watch Choso fight from the sidelines.

As expected, Kenjaku completely dominated the fight from the beginning. He easily dodged Piercing Blood, an attack delivered at the speed of sound and the most deadly one derived from Choso’s Blood Manipulation Cursed Technique. It wasn’t until Choso awakened and began modeling his fight patterns after Itadori Yuji and his brothers that Kenjaku was forced to begin taking the battle seriously. Choso cornered him with an attack Kenjaku should not have been able to evade; several point-blank Supernova explosions transported in the form of compressed blood hidden in his Tracking Arrows.

Kenjaku was forced into using a mysterious technique to avoid injury, and immediately after Yuki jumped into the fray. Her timing suggests that whatever technique Kenjaku had just used was exactly what Yuki was waiting to assess before engaging him in battle. What follows might be one of the most exciting fights Jujutsu Kaisen has offered, as it’s the first between two Special Grade sorcerers shown yet. With Yuki’s Cursed Technique still being a mystery and Kenjaku’s sudden display of invulnerability, there’s not telling what it might look like, past the fact that it’ll be epic.
