A brand-new anime series called Oshi no Ko is currently streaming on HIDIVE and the manga version is available o MangaMonster. It examines the idol business while incorporating touching topics like sorrow, self-actualization, found families, and many others. Overall, Oshi no Ko is a criticism of the brutal idol industry as well as the cutthroat cinema industry, emphasizing the fact that these fields occasionally stifle talent. Death isn't necessarily the end, though.

In a contemporary Japanese context, Oshi no Ko manages to stay quite grounded in bleak realism, yet the supernatural still has a role to play. As Ai Hoshino's son and daughter, Dr. Garou and his young patient Sarina both passed away and were partially isekai'd; as some fans have pointed out, Ai herself might have benefited as well. The death of Ai is crucial.

Why Ai Hoshino Might Get Reincarnated in Oshi No Ko

With Dr. Garou and his patient Sarina being mentally transferred into Ai's newborn son and daughter, Oshi no Ko has already established a precedent for individuals being born again in new bodies by supernatural means. If it can occur once, it may occur again, and the subject of love might be crucial. It's possible that Dr. Garou and Sarina's devotion and adoration for Ai as their idol gave them the emotional fortitude and concentration required to be reincarnated as Ai's children. Similar to this, Ai died proud of her kids and even got to say "I love you" to them for the first time. As a single mother, she was bubbling with true love and caring, thus that matches the reincarnation pattern.

Some Oshi no Ko fans contend that Ai might not only be resurrected for story purposes but also for causes other than in-universe isekai. The other elements of Oshi no Ko's plot, such as Aquamarine Hoshino's self-destructive drive for vengeance and Ruby's foolish plan to become a music idol, had to occur in order for Ai to pass away. Ai's rebirth might still be possible, though, in a heartwarming, long-overdue reunion session with her adult children in an epilogue scene set years later. Even viewers of serious drama anime need a break from Oshi no Ko's darkness and some assurance that righteous individuals like Ai will ultimately be rewarded. If Ai can have a much later birth in a method that doesn't conflict with Oshi

Why Ai Hoshino may not actually be reincarnated

Regarding Ai's probable reincarnation, some Oshi no Ko supporters have claimed the reverse, and this viewpoint is also supported by the fanbase. For instance, some claim that Ai's potential resurrection at the end of Oshi no Ko would contradict the serious, tragic tone of the novel, disrupting the bittersweet mood of the story and making the narrative sound naively optimistic. Oshi no Ko is designed to be a gloomy drama and a scathing condemnation of the idol industry, despite the tale having some lighthearted and comic relief moments. Bringing Ai back for fan service can end the novel incongruously and leave readers with the wrong idea when they've finished reading it. They might feel like Oshi no Ko presents itself as a happy story where everything will turn out well no matter what, but that's not what Aka Akasaka's tale is about.

Even if it didn't interfere with the primary plot, bringing Ai back might undermine the story's critique of the idol business. The premise is that idols may perish at the hands of Yandere fans, or, at the at least, that idols may feel as though their personal lives are being permanently wrecked. The idol industry is known to be violent. Ai's reincarnation at the conclusion would significantly diminish or even remove that effect, providing Ai a handy second chance when she shouldn't have had one.

Despite how tragic it is, Ai must continue to be a victim for Oshi no Ko's tale and themes to make sense. If reincarnation dilutes the main point, Oshi no Ko becomes less a critique of the idol business and more about Ai's clever story device of escaping death's grasp. Perhaps only the twin protagonists of Oshi no Ko should have the ability to resurrect, allowing them to drive the plot while Ai Hoshino may rest in peace forever.
